72 Hrs Later, Body Of Drowned Teenager Still Missing

The body of Samuel Obu, the 17-year-old teen who drowned Sunday, in Lekki Beach, Lagos, has still not yet been recovered even as Police in the state yesterday said efforts were still being made to recover same.

The deceased, who is also the son of a pastor, reportedly went to the beach in the company of his younger brother, a church member identified as Comfort, and her boyfriend to celebrate the festive period.

Eye witnesses said he snapped some pictures with his friends before he went to swim. But tragedy struck when he was reportedly swept further into the sea by the strong waves. His brother, Godwin, who was also said to be swimming with him, became apprehensive when he discovered that Samuel was drowning and raised alarm.

Reports said effort by local divers to rescue the teenager failed as they reportedly retreated following the heavy wave which almost drowned them.

The late Samuel we gathered was a drummer in the Latter House Church – pastored by his father, Owulo Obu.
