Globacom to inaugurate call centres across Nigeria

In a bid to bring services closer to its customers, telecoms operator, Globacom, has said it remains committed to opening mini call centres across Nigeria.

The firm, which recently opened one of the call centres in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, said in a statement on Sunday that this was part of its strategic agenda of creating more capacity to handle customers’ demands.

Globacom said it was planning to set up more mini call centres around the country, thereby reaching the mobile phone users in their own languages and at their natural habitats.

The new mini call centre is equipped with the latest technology and manpower and is capable of handling close to 20,000 calls per day, it said.

The mini call centre is primarily designed to ease pressure on the existing customer support infrastructure in the network.

In addition, it is also designed to effectively meet the needs of Globacom’s teeming Hausa-speaking customers.

According to Globacom’s Director, Customer Care, Ms. Maria Svensson, the establishment of the new call centre in the FCT further demonstrates the network’s passion to serve its subscriber base more efficiently.

“Our ultimate goal is to ensure a significant reduction in the waiting time for a customer to speak with a customer care representative in Hausa language and get his issues resolved. We simply wish to be more accessible and more responsive to our customers,” she said.

Svensson explained that the new call centre located in Abuja puts the company on the same cultural and geographical locale as the customer making the call.

Consequently, the call centre official is able to relate better with his or her caller since both of them speak the same language.

She said the Abuja mini call centre also demonstrated Globacom’s overarching strategy to contribute to socio-economic development in Nigeria.

Svensson said, “It is a strategy deliberately designed to improve the quality of customer-support available to our esteemed customers in the North, and also add value to the local communities by creating employment opportunities for Nigerians. This is another way Globacom is empowering Nigerians with direct employment of young graduates.”

In a related development, Globacom said it had introduced several new high-end and pocket-friendly offerings at this year’s West African Information Communication and Technology exhibition recently held in Lagos.

The operator introduced its newest hi-tech offerings, the Asus Fonepad, which combines two devices in one – a mobile phone and a tablet.

According to Globacom’s Head of Gloworld, Ms. Brenda Akhigbe, the new Asus Fonepad comes with 1 GB free data subscription.

“Five hundred megabytes free data bundle is given on activation and 100mb is given subsequently for every N1,000 plan purchased for the next five months,” she explained.

Also on display at the exhibition is the repackaged Glo Bolt MiFi router, which now comes at a reduced price and a total of 7GB free data for one year.

Participants at the fair also had the opportunity to migrate to and experience two of Glo Mobile’s new tariff packages: Glo Bounce for pre-paid customers and Glo Infinitiser for post-paid customers, the firm said.

Glo Bounce allows subscribers to call other bounce customers at a discounted rate of 5k per second and send SMS at the low rate of N3 per SMS.

Bounce customers also stand to enjoy the Campus Zone (available in all tertiary institutions) call rate of 5k per second to any Glo line and a flat rate of 12k per second to all other networks.
