“Moses begged me to allow him play penalties, I will play spot-kicks in future” – Mikel Obi

John Mikel Obi has revealed that he was set to take the two penalty kicks, in the Super Eagles last Group C game against Ethiopia, but his Chelsea team mate Victor Moses, pleaded to allow him take them.
Obi had missed from the spot in the second game against Zambia, but Moses converted the two kicks to give Nigeria a much needed victory.
The midfielder however said he will not run away from taking spot-kicks in future.
He said: “I will not shy away from taking spots kicks because I missed one. After all, some of the best players in the world have at one time or the other missed spot kicks; so why should I be an exception.“That I missed a spot kick does not mean that I would stop taking penalty kicks if called upon to do so. As a matter of fact, I wanted to take the kick against Ethiopia but when Moses begged me to allow him, I obliged and I am happy he scored both kicks.
“I am not dampened by that miss against Zambia at all. I will take a spot kick if we have one in our next match on Sunday.”

From Fun To Death: Couple Killed By Bus While Mating In The Car On The Highway

Two lovebirds died while playing ‘Adam and Eve’ in their car on a busy highway.Police confirmed the accident but could not say whether the two were having s*x or not. However, a source who called our news crew, said it was suspected that the two were having s*x when the Lord decided to take their souls to heaven!
“Have you heard about two people who died while in the act? I can tell you everything if you call me later,” said the seemingly well informed source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
On Friday last week, at around 4am, the 20-year-old man, only identified as Tatenda and his girlfriend whose name could not be published before the next of kin was notified of the death, were driving towards Kwekwe from Harare.
The two, according to the source, pulled over and parked their vehicle, a Nissan Vanette, at a curve at the 185km peg and decided to rehearse the baby-making game. While enjoying ‘sausage gymnastics’, the source said, a Zupco bus which was going the opposite direction sideswiped the vehicle leaving the right side of the Nissan ripped off.
The two were thrown out of the car, landed on the tarmac and died on the spot. The driver of the bus, Bonface Ncube (35) sustained minor injuries.

Boko Haram Leaders Flee Hot Mali To Nigeria

Some key operational bases of the sect, such as Kano, Bama, Potiskum, Damaturu and Maiduguri, are under watch because security agencies suspect that some Boko Haram (Western education is a sin) leaders are in hiding in these places. But, despite the ceasefire announced by a faction of the sect, the Federal Government has ordered the military and other security agencies to be on the alert. The Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke(SAN), said the government was waging a war against terrorism to avoid erosion of the nation’s democratic values. Security agencies are working on fresh clues that Boko Haram leaders are retreating back to Nigeria from Mali where foreign forces, including Nigeria’s, have routed Islamist pushing to take over power. Mali is believed to be stronghold of al-Qaeda, which is believed to be backing the insurgency in some part of Nigeria.
A top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “We are sucking that the ceasefire by a faction of Boko Haram might be a consequence of the devastating effects of France and the UN Intervention Mission forces in Mali. “There are intelligence reports indicating that some key leaders of the sect have retreated to Nigeria from Mali. That is why we have placed some of their operational bases under watch, despite the ceasefire. These bases are in Kano, Bama, Potiskum, Damaturu and Maiduguri, among other border towns.” Responding to a question, the source added: “The government is cautious on the declaration of ceasefire because it might be a ploy by the retreating Boko Haram leaders to regain the control of lost bases and unleash more devastating mayhem on the country. “We cannot afford to take things for granted or be carried away by the proclamation of a ceasefire.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Vice-Admiral Ibrhim Ola Sa’ad, has asked Boko Haram leaders to prove their commitment to the ceasefire within 30 days.” Another source said: “In spite of the ceasefire, security agencies have been directed to mount water-tight security in volatile states in the Northeast and Northwest. “So, we will increase the tempo of the present security arrangement in terror-prone states.
The recent change of GOCs and top military commanders of some the Army, the Air Force and the Navy is part of plans to step up security nationwide.” Adoke yesterday gave an insight into why the government has been fighting Boko Haram and other terror-related organisations. Adoke , who spoke at a two-day peace and security summit of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja, said the government cannot handover victory to terrorists. “There is no doubt that challenges to internal security can erode democratic gains and indeed our mutual co-existence as a pluralistic society.
“The wanton and indiscriminate deprivation of innocent lives and the infliction of harm on countless others by the wave of attacks carried out by the terrorist group, known as Boko Haram coupled with the spate of kidnappings in the country must be seen as direct attacks on the core values of democratic governance, namely the rule of law; the protection of the dignity of human beings; mutual respect among people of different faith and peaceful resolution of conflict.
Adoke said: “Although, views differ on the approaches that have been adopted in our fight against terrorism and the relative successes so far recorded, we are mindful of the need to ensure that our core democratic values are not eroded in the process, to do that would amount to handing victory to the terrorists “As a democrat, I firmly believe in the sustainable approach we have adopted in the current challenges. Our strategy aims to: protect individuals and communities; stabilise existing conflicts and discontentment; counter- harmful and extremist sentiments and ideologies; and deploy adequate response to economic and social insecurities that contribute to the growth of terrorism.

Unbelievable Photos: Woman With The Longest Hair

Dai Yue Qin, better  known as Miss Dyq, is the Queen of long hair in China. Born in April 1964 in Tong Xiang (Zhejiang province, South China), she began to grow long hair at about 14.
Everybody admired her two long and thick black shiny braids so she decided to cut it off never.
After graduation she worked in a carpet factory in Suzhou for 10 years, then returned to her hometown and worked at a big hotel. As her hair-length of 3,30 meters raised more and more attraction she joined several long hair competitions and has won prizes till now.
In 2001 she moved to the U.S. where her friend lives. In 2005 she visited her family and friends in China and again attended some contests and long hair shows. It takes her about 1 to 2 hours to comb her tresses which are 420 cm in length now (almost 14 feet!).
The washing of that shiny flood of hair needs 5 to 6 hours every two weeks.

71-Year-Old Woman Arrested For Prostitution

According to agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police Department, authorities were tipped off to 71-year-old Sygun Liebhart’s alleged prostitution activities by an advertisement in the classified section of Backpage.com.
Liebhart, according to police, promoted herself in the escort section of the website under the name “Lola.” The ad is now defunct, however a cached version of an ad for a “Lola” who was working in that area at the time reads:
“Older is Better … A well preserved beauty. All natural and busty 38DD. Sexy, fit, warm and friendly.”
Similar ads indicate “Lola” went by various ages from 60 up and turned tricks for $150. An apparent small sum compared to similar ads by much younger women who request $300 plus for s*xual services.
“A truly mature escort with over 25 years experience in delivering a symphony of luxury and sensual delight to discriminating professional gentlemen both younger and older who can afford the best and who prefer their women a bit older but a lot better … My background is French and German mix with soft beautiful skin, perfectly groomed from head to toe. Fine lingerie is a must to complete this picture of sensuous refinement and elegance,” reads another “Lola” ad posted at eros-hartford.com.
Kennedy told The Huffington Post members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force saw the ad Friday and an undercover officer answered the ad. Liebhart allegedly agreed to a “deal for s*xual acts” and instructed an undercover agent to meet her at the Homewood Suites in Glastonbury.
Surveillance units were dispatched to the hotel and took Liebhart into custody.
Liebhart, a resident of nearby Westport, was charged with a single count of prostitution and bond was set at $500.00 non-surety. It is not clear Monday if Liebhart has an attorney. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment from HuffPost.

True Confession: I did an abortion for the man my sister wants to marry, should I tell her?

My name is Ama (not real name), a 30-year old single lady working in a bank in one of Nigeria’s famous cities. About three years ago, I had a brief affair with a good-looking man. He is two years older and works in an oil company. We actually met while I was in the marketing department of my organization.
Before long, we started seeing each other and even spent nights at each other’s place. I had great affection for him; he was a real gentleman with nice qualities. However, the relationship lasted only five months. It ended after I carried out abortion because according to him, he had no plans to settle down at that point. I felt used, dumped and couldn’t bear the pain any longer so I broke up.
After completion of her National Youth Service last year, my younger sister travelled out for a Master’s programme in the United Kingdom, same country my ex was transferred to from Lagos in 2011. He had informed me about the promotion and I wished him well. We keep in touch once in a while, although no feelings attached.
The shocker: My sister has always been telling me so many sweet things about her boyfriend and that she can’t wait for me to meet him. She obviously was in love…I was very happy for her because just like me, she had gone through so many heartbreaks.
In December, she sent pictures of her and a guy together at a friend’s birthday party. At first, I thought my eyes were deceiving me; it was my ex! I recognized him the second I saw his face. As if not enough, I got yet another shocker in the third week of January. She said my ex has proposed and that they are planning to get married later this year. Honestly, since hearing this news , I have been very uncomfortable.Few days ago, I told my ex we needed to talk so he called. I expressed my fear and reservation of him courting my sibling considering our past. He said he already knows that I and his new love are related. That he found out after several conversations with my sister and also several pictures of us. He said he hasn’t said anything yet and that we should keep sealed lips, since we dated before they met in the UK. Initially I accepted his view but lately I have been miserable. I really wish to get this off my chest but at the same time I don’t want to hurt my kid sis.
I am mad at myself, I am mad at life. What do I do please?

Atuche: Recalled witnesses delay closure of EFCC case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had concluded plan to round off the N25billion theft case instituted against a former managing director of Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank), Mr. Francis Atuche and two others, Elizabeth Atuche and Ugo Anyanwu but for the recall of two witnesses by the court at its last sitting.
EFCC lead counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, disclosed this on Wednesday, January, 30, 2013 before Justice Lateefa Okunnu of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja. According to him, the EFCC planned to close the case against the former bankers on Wednesday, January 30, after presenting all its witnesses and concluded all its submissions but for the recall of Diamond Uij and Elizabeth Ebi by the court at its last sitting on January 28, 2013.
“The EFCC would have liked to conclude the on- going trial finally today, but as it were, we are handicapped by the court ruling on Monday, January 28, 2013, ordering the recall of two principal witnesses, Mr Diamond Uji and Mrs Elizabeth Ebi”, Pinheiro said. The recall of the two witnesses followed an application filed before the court by lead defence counsel, Anthony Idigbe, SAN and third defence counsel, S. Ogwemoh, praying the court to recall them. Pinheiro, dissatisfied by the recall of the two witnesses, asked the court how the witnesses will be addressed- prosecution or defence witnesses? Justice Okunnu said that they will be addressed as court witnesses. At the court session on Wednesday, Ogwemoh continued with the cross examination of the prosecution witness, Adama Hamma Bello. He asked the witness if he was conversant with the term PLD (Post Loan Debit) and who can authorize it in the bank. In response, Bello said he was familiar with the term and that anyone could authorize it. He further explained that in the particular case of Atuche, it was Anyanwu that instructed the Compliant Officer of the former PHB, Teresa Ekon to grant it. Besides, Bello said that the authorization of PLD was a back door transaction involving only staff who were loyal to Atuche.
Ogwemoh asked Bello if Ebi applied for any loan (dubbed hoax loan in the case) and he said Ebi did not apply for such a loan. Bello also said that she didn’t use any of her companies to apply for the loan. “In the course of investigation, we found out that she was paid well over N110million and they called it concealment money”. Bello also said in response to a question posed by Ogwemoh whether Ebi reported any suspicious transaction in her account and he said she did not make such a report. Justice Okunnu, after listening to all the submissions, adjourned the case till February 11, and March 4 and 8, 2013 for the cross examination of the recalled witnesses.

PHOTOS: Meet 27-Year-Old Nigerian Whose Incredible Sketches Look Like Digital Photos

Kelvin Okafor, 27, graduated from Middlesex University in fine art and is now making waves across the country.
His subjects include popular music artists Tinie Tempah, James Morrison and Adele.
He has also picked out tragic figures from actor Heath Ledger to the late King of Jordan, King Hussein – and with each, he tries to evoke an emotion in the viewer.
Finally, he has used friends and colleagues for the impressively accurate images, which look like soft focus digital photos.
Last year, the artist from Tottenham, north London, exhibited at numerous major art galleries and won a clutch of prestigious national awards for his remarkable work.
Each of his pieces takes around 80-100 hours to complete, over approximately three weeks in the studio.
Mr Okafor creates each piece only in black and white – using graphite pencils, charcoal, black coloured pencil and sometimes grey pastels.
Yet he believes that the range of tone, shade and texture is almost endless.
He draws on a combination of life and photographs, working on his art for up to 15 hours a day.
He admits he is 'passionate about precision'.
'I aspire to create art as vivid as eyes could see,' the artist writes on his blog.
'I want my drawings to prompt an emotional response, making viewers feel as though they are looking at a real live subject.
Mr Okafor describes the pencil as 'a humble instrument', but says this is part of its appeal.
'I've always been creative, but fell in love with using pencils in particular.
'It amazed me, that with only one shade of lead, you can create so many tones and textures, and almost create the illusion of colour.
'It was only when my images started to create a buzz with other Middlesex University students that I realised their impact.'
He was selected as one of the top two pieces of work at Cork Street Gallery's Winter Show in 2012 and recently won the Catherine Petitgas Visitors' Choice Prize, part of the National Open Art Competition.
His work is currently on display at the The Watercolours + Works on Paper Fair at the London Science Museum, until February 3.
Before starting a piece, Mr Okafor spends a few days analysing a photo, concentrating first on the subject's eyes, which are central to his works' impact.
His pieces are now selling for on average £8,000-£10,000, depending on the scale.
'The attention I'm receiving is surreal and hasn't really sunk in yet,' he added.
'I'm usually sheltered from it in my studio as I continue to build my portfolio, but I'm really humbled and honoured that so many people appreciate my work.
'I hope to have my own gallery in the future.'
He has now had more than 50 commissions, and the dedicated artist cites his role models as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo – because they not only mastered the arts but branched out into other fields including engineering, poetry, science and maths.

Incredible: Actor Lekinson Rises From The Grave

Lekan Oladapo a.k.a. Giorgio Lekinson, a foundation member of the Yoruba genre of Nigerian home videos on Wednesday, January 26, 2012 was announced to have had his last breath due to cancer of the lung ailment he battled with for years before he eventually lost out. Interestingly, Lekinson's disappearance from the movie scene before he died early last year remains the reason some movie buffs still find it hard to believe that he's dead!

It would be recall that Lekinson, who would forever be remembered for his slangs and good interpretation of the role of a fraudster in most Yoruba films, battled with drug related problems and when family and friends thought Giorgio Lekinson had cheated death, the gifted actor passed on.But all might not be true again as barely a year after the demise of the handsome actor, amazingly, his first son, Babatunde Oladipo, stepped into his father's shoes and has picked up the trade where his father left it.
Though, before the death of his dad, Armani Arante as the Yabatech's graduate of Business Administration is popularly called, was involved with his dad's stuff and others, this time, he's set to bring his late dad back to live again with his dad's unfinished project, "Irosun Meji." Apart from picking roles in popular films like "Omolabake", "Oko Obinrin", "Figurine" among few others, Armani Arante is getting set to hit location for his personal film project that may come after premiering Irosun Meji, Lekinson's last movie film which he never lived to release.
"Apart from the fact that I picked after my father, to be a successful actor has been my childhood ambition but my father do tell me to finish my education before going to acting. My passion for acting grew when I started following him to movie locations. While in higher institution, I opted for Business Administration because of my love for banking job but life later played me its card as I'm back to my first love which is acting. It's no doubt that my father was a ladies' man but it may shock you that my mother remained his only wife whom they had two kids together, I and my younger brother, Abiodun," Armani

We have spent over N7bn on Mali crisis – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that Nigeria has spent over $34 million (about N7 billion) on the ongoing deployment of troops and logistics support to calm the ongoing crisis in Mali.
Jonathan made this known Tuesday, affirming that he has also made additional $5million pledge to further support the crisis ridden country.
He added that Nigeria has already deployed 900 combat soldiers and 300 Air Force personnel to Mali as part of the African-led International Support Mission in Mali (AFISMA).
According to him, the sum of US$5.5 million out of the N7 billion, had been used for the re-construction and renovation of a number of medical clinics in the military barracks of some of the Malian Defence and Security Forces, as part of the Security Sector Reform (SSR) intervention.
His Excellency who spoke at the Donors’ Conference held at the end of the 20th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday, disclosed that about $2million of the said amount has been spent on humanitarian relief and supplies, while the additional $5million pledge, which was in response to the call for more donations, was an expression of Nigeria’s commitment to the international effort to restore peace in Mali.
The AU had set a target of $50 million, but the total pledges announced at the end of the conference was $455.53 million apart from other commitments made by the donors to contribute to the training of the Malian Defence Forces and other assistance
President Jonathan said, “Nigeria has commenced the deployment of 900 combat soldiers and 300 Air Force personnel to Mali as part of AFISMA. Nigeria has so far provided about $32 million for the immediate deployment and logistic support for the troops.
“Prior to this, Nigeria dispatched relief and humanitarian relief and supplies amounting to US$2 million and Nigeria has undertaken the re-construction and refurbishment of a number of clinics in the military barracks of some of the Malian Defence and Security Forces, as part of the Security Sector Reform (SSR) intervention to the tune of US$5.5 million.”
He added that Nigeria was part of the joint initiative being undertaken by the African Union (AU), Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS), the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) aimed at mobilizing adequate financial resources in support of the Malian Defense and Security Forces (MDSF) as well as African-led International Support Mission in Mali AFISMA.
The president added that though this initiative would be considered as rather belated, given the rapidly unfolding events in Mali, it was better to start now than to wait even a day longer.
“The collaboration between these four organizations on this initiative is a clear demonstration of international solidarity, sympathy and cooperation required for a definitive resolution of the Malian crisis which has serious international consequences”, he noted.
