Suspected boko haram militants in the early hours of Monday, slaughtered three persons across different locations in Yobe state. The residences of an active area comptroller in charge of Katsina/Kaduna, Alhaji Yusuf Umar and Alhaji Abubakar Mainasara, member representing Potiskum/Nangere in the Federal House of Representatives, were also razed to the ground.
It was gathered that the gunmen launched a series of coordinated night attacks around 2am, and within the hour, slaughtered the Director Finance and Supply, Yobe State Science and Technical Board, Malam Ado Jespa together with his neighbor, Malam Sagir as well as two other security guards at the residences of both the Comptroller and serving House of Rep member.
Not done with their nefarious activities, the unidentified gunmen also torched three schools which include King Abdulazeez Model Islamic school, Government Science Secondary School where 4 vehicles were burnt and College of Administration Potiskum (CAPs), one of the surviving Legacies of the Premier of the Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello where 14 vehicles were burnt.
JTF spokesman, Eli Lazarus confirmed most of the attacks and assured more efforts to tackle the serial killing and wanton destructions in the trouble spots.
“We are aware of most of this attacks, and have advised the state government to impose curfew in order to curb the crimes, which they have done.”
It would be recalled that a 4pm-7am curfew has been imposed on Potiskum and its environs effective Monday by the Yobe state government to curtail the activities of the extremist Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.
