Scammers open Facebook, Twitter accounts in Lagos Police PRO’s name

It was gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Prince Umaru Manko, is not taking the matter with levity and had already set up a high powered investigation body to fish out the culprits
The Lagos State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, has discovered that some con-men have used her picture and name to open Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Braide was said to have been visibly stunned when she made the discovery since she does not even have Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Confirming this development, Braide explained that the attention of the command had only just recently been drawn to the activities of the criminals, using her picture and name to defraud innocent Nigerians.
For the Facebook account, she has about 1,954 friends and more still waiting for their requests to be granted to be her friend.
She has about 445 followers and apparently had just recently added 1,458 friends on Twitter.
Many of the people who fell for the game of the con-men appeared to be mostly members of the Nigeria Police Force.
Displayed conspicuously are three of her best pictures and this introduction: Hello and greetings everyone. Reiterating that members of the public should have no dealing with the Facebook and Twitter accounts, Braide said: "The attention of Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the activities of impostors posing as the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer via Facebook account name 'DSP Ngozi Conchita Braide.'
"For the avoidance of doubt, I don't currently operate any Facebook or Twitter account.
"The perpetrators of this devilish act should desist henceforth or face the wrath of the law as this is not only an embarrassment to the Nigeria Police Force but a Criminal offence punishable by law."
It was gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Prince Umaru Manko, is not taking the matter with levity and had already set up a high powered investigation body to fish out the culprits.
Manko also warned the general public to beware to avoid falling victims of criminals and fraudsters impersonating the Lagos State PPRO and other prominent citizens.
