Tragedy struck at the Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Wednesday night when a police Inspector posted to the private residence of Governor Murtala Nyako ran amuck, killed his wife and his landlord’s.
The Inspector, who refused to surrender his arms and ammunition to the divisional police armourer after closing from duty, went home with it to allegedly kill the victims.
It was learnt that the officer on reaching home first shot his wife dead before turning on his landlord’s wife to shoot her too.
His landlord was said to have escaped, when he discovered that his wife and that of the policeman had been shot dead, and then reported the incident at the Divisional Police Station in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ibrahim Mohammed, said that the suspect had since been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID.
