Thursday, today, has been declared a public holiday by the Osun state government in commemoration of the first day of Hijrah.
Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Ajibola Bashir, while making this declaration in Osogbo, the state capital, said the step is to promote religious harmony in the state.
The holiday signifies the beginning of a new year in the Muslim Ummah’s lunar calendar.
