Auto Crash Kills Bride, 6 Family Members On The Way To Her Wedding Reception

Tragedy struck on the highway between Hafr Al Baten and Dammam, the largest city in eastern Saudi Arabia when a bride on her way to her wedding reception with six members of her family were killed in a collision between their car and a trailer.
The victims were four women, two men and one girl, said Fahad Al Ghamdi, a spokesman for the Red Crescent in the Eastern Province, Saudi media reported on Thursday.
The tragedy happened at around 10:30am and reports said a third car was involved in the accident.
In a separate accident in the gulf country, two young men were killed when their car crashed into a lamppost in Al Ihsa, an oasis region in eastern Saudi Arabia.
Road accidents are numerous and often tragic on Saudi roads despite regular campaigns launched by the authorities to promote a safer traffic culture.
The massive presence of trucks and trailers and a tendency by all drivers to speed are often blamed for the alarmingly high figures of accidents.

Mentally ill lady kills parents in Delta state

The ancient Oleh town in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State is currently filled with grief following the killing of a retired soldier and his wife by their 32-year-old mentally derailed daughter on Thursday.
DailyPost gathered that the retired Army Warrant Officer, Mr Jonah Elili, and his wife were killed after been hit with a pestle by their daughter whose name was given as Elo.
The lifeless bodies of the 75-year-old retired soldier and his wife, 65, were reportedly discovered in the early hours of Thursday by a neighbour who had gone to purchase some items from the deceased couple’s shop.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the neighbour had, after knocking at their door for several minutes without response, peeped into the house and was shocked to had discovered the husband and wife lying in the pool of their blood.
The source said the woman raised the alarm which drew the attention of people other neighbours, adding that the last they knew or heard about the family was when the retired Warrant Officer came out to drag his daughter who ran outside naked, back into the house and locked her up. According to information made available to DailyPost, the couple was blessed with seven children (two boys and five girls), including the one that was afflicted with insanity who had been roaming about the community.
Meanwhile, the said Elo had been detained at the Oleh Police Station. She was alleged to have told detectives that she reportedly killed her parents because they hated her.
“My parents hate me. They locked me up in a room where they first hit me before I retaliated with a pestle. I saw blood and that is all I know,” Elo reportedly said.
A senior Police officer in Oleh confirmed the story, saying a signal had been sent to the appropriate authority just as the matter has also being transferred to the state police headquarters in Asaba for further investigations.

Two brothers cut off neighbour’s scrotum over N200

For 22-year-old Sunday Onyike, a Business Administration student of Yaba College of Technology, Yaba-Lagos, the hope of successfully rounding up his programme with the his peers have been dashed.
This is because of the prolonged treatment he has been receiving since March, 2011 as a result of serious injury he sustained during a scuffle with his neighbours identified as Augustine Eleyi, 28, and Emeka Eleyi, 32, from Ohozara in Mgbo Ebonyi State.
Sunday, the only son of his parents from Ohafia in AbiaState, had his scrotum slashed off during a fight with two of his neighbours.
Narrating the circumstances that led to the problem to Crime Guard at their Makoko residence, the father of the victim, Onyike Okpara,65, stated; “I have been living in this compound since 1970. I had five children but only two are alive; that is Sunday and his younger sister who works at LagosIsland.
I occupy two rooms in the building, one room which I sleep in, and the other at the back of the building, where my children sleep. When ever my daughter comes home from work, she buys and shares biscuits, sweets and gala to our neighbour’s children. So, the children always look forward to her returning from work.
More so, when ever she is sharing these goodies to the children, two of our neighbours, Augustine Eleyi and his elder brother, Emeka Eleyi (who normally sits on the chair I kept in front of my children’s room at the boys quarters to smoke Indian hemp), would always walk up to them, grab what ever is within their grasp, and flee. Instead of them to ask, they would grab what ever they can and run away. My daughter complained about this to me, and I had called and cautioned them to desist from such act, but they would not listen.
On the evening of March 1st, 2011, she was seated at the boys’ quarters with some children sharing some gala when Augustine Eleyi, came and as usual, grabbed one gala and ran away.
My daughter pursued him and in the process, N200 fell from his pocket. She picked it up and said it would serve as a payment for all the gala and biscuits he has been snatching from them.
Later on, on a second thought, she decided to give him back the money as she thought it was not worth it.
Having searched around for him, and not knowing of his whereabouts, she decided to give him the money the next day.
On the evening of that day which was the 2nd of March, 2011, after she got back from work, she took the money to him at the boys quarters, but he said he does not want it anymore. At that point, an argument ensued between them, during which his younger brother, Emeka Eleyi collected the money from my daughter.
As the argument continued, my son Sunday who was in the room preparing for the next day’s lecture, told his sister to let the matter be, and go to our main room and sleep, while he asked Augustine and Emeka to leave the place because they were disturbing him with their noise.
Augustine asked him if the place looked like his school hostel, that if he wants to read, he should pack his books and go to his school hostel. As the argument raged, he slapped my son, who grabbed him on his shirt asking ‘what have I done to you’?, Emeka rushed to them pretending as if we was going for peace only for him to grab my son’s two hands, while Augustine rushed and fetched a sharp object, and used it to slash my son’s scrotum.

Bizarre: Man Slashes His Wife’s Head Into Two

Oh Goodness!! This is really bizarre & Crazy. I don’t care what she has done but the man has no right to do this.

This woman was beaten by her husband and she is currently in hospital where doctors are battling to save her life.
To make matters worse, the husband is asking her to come back home.
Physical abuse is a very touchy subject. Many women experience it, but none deserve it. It is a senseless and
heartless act and is a sign of a true coward. Women are already faced with the day to day challenges of being a woman and to have added pressure from a careless figure of a man is totally unnecessary.
It is a very hurtful thing to know that a man has hit someone you care about so deeply.
There are many excuses men use to justify hitting women, but none of them are legitimate. Some would even go as far as saying, “That’s how I was brought up. So this is normal.”
This is NOT normal. It’s a mental sickness that needs to be rectified.
An abusive man is a person who is controlling and possessive. Who tries to control his woman day-to-day life. He wants to know her every location, how long was she there, who did she see and who did she meet. He controls what she wears and who she goes out with. And sometimes to the point where she can’t even see her family. He isolates her so she can become dependent on him.
When a man hits a woman, it gives him a measurement of his control. He is not treating her with respect. Instead of her being his equal, she allows him to place himself above her while she becomes the peasant. And the only reason why this happens is because those women allow it.
Truth be told, a man wouldn’t want someone hitting his daughter, so he shouldn’t hit someone else’s

Pope Francis Breaks Tradition; Washes Feet Of Prisoners Including Muslims&Women

pope francis washing feetPope Francis washed the feet of 12 young offenders including two girls and two Muslims at a Rome prison on Thursday in an unprecedented version of an ancient Easter ritual, seen as part of efforts to bring the Catholic Church closer to those in need.
The pope knelt down, washing and kissing the young prisoners’ feet in the first Holy Thursday ceremony of its kind performed by a pontiff in prison, and the first to include women and Muslims.
“Whoever is the most high up must be at the service of others,” Francis said at the mass in the Casal del Marmo youth prison, a fortnight after being elected Latin America’s first pope.
“I do this with all my heart because it is my duty as a priest, as a bishop. I have to be at your service. I love doing it because this is what the Lord has taught me,” the 76-year-old said.
Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said many of the participants broke down in tears at the ceremony, which was open only to Vatican media. One young man had to be replaced at the last moment because he was too overcome with emotion.
Video footage from the ceremony showed the pope pouring water over the feet — one of them with tattoos — bending down to kiss them and looking each of the 12 prisoners in the eye before moving on.

pope francis kisses feet of prisonerLombardi said that while this was the first time a pope had washed women’s feet, Francis had performed this type of ceremony in his native Argentina many times before becoming pope including in jails, hospitals and old people’s homes.
The Holy Thursday ceremony is usually held in a basilica in the city centre and commemorates the gesture of humility believed to have been performed by Jesus Christ before his death to his 12 disciples at their last meal.
Popes performing the ritual have usually washed the feet of priests.
Catholic traditionalists are likely to be riled by the inclusion of women because all of Jesus’ disciples were male — the same justification used to explain why only men can be Catholic priests.
Francis has already broken with several Vatican traditions with his informal style, although he is yet to begin tackling the many problems assailing the Roman Catholic Church including reform of the scandal-ridden Vatican bureaucracy and bank.
Local prison chaplain Gaetano Greco said he hoped the ritual would be “a positive sign in the lives” of the young offenders at the prison, which has around 50 inmates aged between 14 and 21.
Earlier on Thursday, the pontiff told Catholic priests at a mass in St Peter’s Basilica to stop their “soul-searching” and “introspection”.
“We need to go out… to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters,” he said. [AFP, Reuters]

2015: Presidency Is Jonathan’s Right And He Will Get It – Tompolo

As intrigues and political horse-trading continue to trail preparations for the 2015 elections, President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid has been described as unstoppable.
Former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo, made this declaration on Thursday at his country home, Oporoza, Delta State, at the grand finale of the 2013 Amasekumo annual festival.
Clad in white ritual apparel with a head gear, Tompolo, while fielding questions from journalists, averred that anybody attempt to stop Jonathan would amount to ‘something funny.
“What I want to say is that we are going to get 2015. Nobody will stop us; if anybody is trying to stop us, it means they are trying, maybe, to do something funny. This is our right and we are going to get it by the grace of God,” the former warlord affirmed.
On the pardon granted former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Deprieye Alamieyeseigha, Tompolo hailed the decision saying it was the most laudable thing President Jonathan had done for the people of Niger Delta, noting that God would reward him for it.
“I support Jonathan 101 per cent on the pardon given Alamieyeseigha. That is one of the greatest things that Jonathan has done for the people of Niger Delta and God will reward him for that. No amount of good one has done in this life that people will not criticize you. What Jonathan has done is to show that 20 per cent is for him, because Alamieseigha is one of the key leaders in the Niger Delta,” he noted.
Reacting to critics’ claim that the pardon was an endorsement of corruption by the presidency, Tompolo said, “The issue of corruption in this country has been there for a very long time. We need to get together and help Jonathan as a person because he is one of the best presidents  Nigeria has had”.
On oil theft, the ex-warlord said until the cabal behind the thieving is unmasked and dealt with, which he said, they were working on; the  business may ruin the nation’s economy.
“We are working on that. The issue concerns everybody not only the Niger Delta. It’s a cabal and we are working to break that cabal so that Nigeria will have peace. What we have is enough for everybody in this country,” Tompolo declared.
However, in a stance that runs contrary to popular views from the Niger Delta over the allegation that the largest percentage of oil blocs was owned by northerners, he responded:
“We are the owners of the oil and by God’s grace, we will get our fair share. As per oil bloc and northerners having the largest share, the truth is that we are all part of the country. What we have is for everybody.”

Prostitute Dies During Love Making ‘Resurrects’ In Coffin

A prostituté in Bulowayo, Zimbabwe, is bringing new meaning to the term “killer séx” after authorities thought she died during an encounter with a customer.
However, she came back to life just as officials placed her in a metal coffin.
The incident occurred last week at the Manor Hotel and the escort, later identified as “MaNdlo,” reportedly collapsed and died while having séx with a client.
But when authorities came to collect the body of the prostitute and put it in a steel coffin, she suddenly woke up in a panic screaming, “You want to kill me!” at the officers.
Seeing a woman presumed to be dead spring back to life shocked onlookers, many of whom ran away in fear, Bulawayo24.com reported.
“It was like a movie,” a source told the website. “People were running away in different directions. It was a scary incident because we were all convinced that she had died because she was just cold. Miracles surely do happen.”
MaNdlo was taken home by another working girl and the unidentified john who allegedly “killed” her reportedly sneaked out of the hotel moments after the cops had left.

Osama Bin Laden’s Death: New Details Surface

There were “the Shooter” and “the Point Man.” Now a third member of SEAL Team 6 offers another account of the raid on Osama bin Laden that led to his death in 2011.
The report from CNN appears to contradict Esquire’s widely circulated story, “The Man Who Killed Osama bin Laden,” by Phil Bronstein. The unnamed source from CNN calls the Esquire account “complete B-S.”
The SEAL team member in the Esquire profile, who was described simply as the Shooter, claimed that he entered the compound and found bin Laden with a gun in reach and shot him.
“In that second, I shot him, two times in the forehead. Bap! Bap! The second time as he’s going down. He crumpled onto the floor in front of his bed. He was dead. I watched him take his last breaths,” the Shooter told Esquire.
That account conflicts with the first-person narrative from the bestselling book “No Easy Day,” written by Matt Bissonette under the alias Mark Owen.
According to a third account from the anonymous Navy SEAL Team 6 member who talked to CNN, the Point Man rushed up the stairs and shot bin Laden in the head, gravely wounding him.
CNN adds, “Having taken down bin Laden, the point man proceeded to rush two women he found in bin Laden’s bedroom, gathering them in his arms to absorb the explosion in case they were wearing suicide vests, something that was a real concern of those who planned the raid.”
Two more SEALs then found bin Laden wounded on the floor, and shot him in the chest. CNN’s source said there was no way the Shooter could have seen a gun in reach of bin Laden — since a gun was only discovered in the the suspected terrorist leader’s room after a thorough search.
This account appears to square with the one in “No Easy Day,” which asserts the Point Man took the first shots. Bissonette writes in his book that he was one of the members to shoot bin Laden as he lay on the floor.
Bronstein, when contacted by CNN, said he had passed along the questions around the raid to his source but had not heard back.
But according to CNN’s Peter Bergen, there’s no “I” in this SEAL team: He writes that in the briefing to President Obama post-raid, the members explained, “If you took one person out of the puzzle, we wouldn’t have the competence to do the job we did; everybody’s vital. It’s not about the guy who pulled the trigger to kill bin Laden, it’s about what we all did together.”

UK schoolgirl fatally mauled by dogs

The death of a 14-year-old girl who was apparently fatally savaged by a pack of dogs at a friend's home has prompted horror in Britain.

Greater Manchester Police formally identified the girl Wednesday as Jade Anderson.

She was found dead at a house in Atherton, near Wigan in northwest England, on Tuesday afternoon after police were called about reports of an unconscious girl and "out-of-control" dogs.

Armed officers were confronted by a pack of dogs, described as "aggressive." Four were killed, and a fifth, which was shut up elsewhere in the house, was contained.

More clues about what sparked the attack on Jade may be revealed by an autopsy Wednesday, police said.

The schoolgirl was alone at the house, which she was visiting, when she was apparently mauled, police said.

The dogs' remains will be examined as part of the investigation, which will also look at the breeds involved, police said.

UK newspaper reports suggest that an American bulldog, two Staffordshire bull terriers and a bull mastiff attacked the teenager. None of those breeds are banned in Britain.

Police Superintendent Mark Kenny said it was "a deeply distressing incident for everyone involved" and expressed condolences to Jade's family.

"They are understandably devastated by what has happened, as are Jade's circle of friends," he said in a police statement.

Tribune Publisher, Oluwole Awolowo, dies in London at 70

Mr. Awolowo reportedly died in a foreign hospital on Wednesday evening.
The publisher and vice chairman of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN)  Oluwole Awolowo, is dead. He was 70.
The deceased is a son of the late sage and premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo.
Oluwole Awolowo died aged 70 on Wednesday evening.
According to a statement published on its website, Tribune says Mr. Awolowo died at  7.40 p.m. Nigerian time, on Wednesday, at Wellington Hospital, St Johnswood, London, following complications arising from a car crash that occurred on September 30, 2006.
"He had been in and out of hospital, home and abroad, since he was involved in the ghastly accident seven years ago on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway," the statement said.
The paper said despite his health challenges following the accident, Mr. Awolowo devoted his life to the service of God and was deeply involved in evangelical activities.
In the past four years, he authored a christian column, OBA'S LECTERN, in the Sunday Tribune, the statement further said, adding, "He fought a good fight and has gone to rest with his Maker.
"We ask for prayers at this most trying time for the Awolowo family and for the ANN Plc."
Already, a Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has mourned the death of Mr. Awolowo.
"The entire Afenifere family mourns the passing away of the scion of our illustrious leader's family, Chief Oluwole Awolowo.
"His death is a big pain and loss to all of us who are followers of the sage. We pray that the Almighty will strengthen our Mama and the entire family in this difficult moment. May his amiable soul rest in perfect peace," the group said in a statement by its spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin.
Mr. Awolowo was born in Ibadan on December 3, 1942 as a third child and second son  of Papa Obafemi Awolowo and Mama Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.  He attended Ibadan Grammar School, Leighton Park School, Reading, England and Leeds College of Commerce where he graduated in Business Studies in the early sixties.
After living in England for a while, he returned to Nigeria at a time his father was being persecuted by the federal government over alleged treasonable offences. He was to later work with the Nigerian Tobacco Company, Ibadan, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation and the Nigerian Television Service, Lagos.  Mr. Awolowo then launched into private business, investing in transportation, petroleum products dealership and estate management.
He was a politician as well. He joined the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA) and was said to have participated in the successful election of TOS Benson as an UPGA in 1964.
In 1966, after the military incursion in Nigerian politics, Mr. Oluwole veered away completely from politics and continued to grow his business. He was to become a director of Dideolu Stores Limited, Sopolu Investment Ltd, amongst others.
In the mid 1975s, the tribune publisher returned to politics winning election as councillor representing Apapa in the then Lagos City Council.  He was also elected to the Lagos House of Assembly in 1979 and was reelected in 1983. Until the military takeover of  1983, he headed several legislative Committees on environment, education and health.
In 1984, three years before his father died, the Board of the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc appointed him Publisher/Vice Chairman of the Tribune titles, a position he held until his death.

British Teen Sells App To Yahoo For $30m

There isn’t so strong a line between being an everyday guy and becoming one of the world’s youngest millionaires; you gotta sell that unique thing you have, and boom! you are all over the news.
Meet Nick D’Aloisio, the 17-year-old British entrepreneur who just sold his popular news-reading app to Yahoo Inc. for close to $30 million, instantly becoming one of the world’s youngest self-made millionaires.
It’s the classic Silicon Valley success story of a young software prodigy striking it ridiculously and improbably big.
D’Aloisio, who taught himself to write software at age 12, built the free iPhone app Summly — which automatically summarizes news stories for small screens ‑ in his London bedroom in 2011. He was just 15 years old. Soon he had backing from Horizons Ventures, the venture capital arm of Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing and big names such as Zynga Inc.’s Mark Pincus and actor Ashton Kutcher.
Before it was pulled from the app store Monday after the announcement of the Yahoo deal, D’Aloisio’s app Summly had been downloaded nearly 1 million times. It had deals with 250 online publishers, including News Corp., and 10 employees in London. Not bad for a high school student.
To me, Yahoo is the best company to be joining right now because it’s one of these classic Internet companies,” D’Aloisio said in an interview. “With new leadership from Marissa Mayer, Yahoo has a strong focus on mobile and product, and that’s the perfect fit for Summly.”
Mayer, the former Google Inc. executive who took over the Sunnyvale, California company last summer, has focused on mobile technology to revive Yahoo’s lagging fortunes. She has snapped up a number of promising mobile start-ups as much for their personnel as for the innovation.
In D’Aloisio, Yahoo is getting someone who truly thinks and lives in the mobile world. Rather than browsing the Web by clicking a mouse, more people are connecting to the Internet with their smartphone or tablet, changing what kind and how much information they consume, Yahoo mobile chief Adam Cahan said.
Silicon Valley companies such as Facebook and Yahoo are looking to adapt their Internet businesses to hold on to consumers who want easier, faster ways to find what matters to them.
“Summly solves this by delivering snapshots of stories, giving you a simple and elegant way to find the news you want, faster than ever before,” Cahan said.
D’Aloisio, who took a break from school for six months to focus full time on Summly, will join Yahoo’s London office while continuing his studies in the evenings and living at home with his parents. He says Yahoo plans to integrate Summly into all sorts of mobile experiences.
“The real idea is to take the core of the technology and find different fits for it and make it as ubiquitous as possible on the Web,” he said.
“We want to take summarisation and build beautiful content experiences around it.” He says his parents — his dad is an energy financier, his mother is a lawyer — will help him manage the financial windfall (he says all he wants is a new computer and pair of Nike trainers). But he says he was not driven to the deal by dollar signs.
“Technology has really been the driver behind this whole deal,” D’Aloisio said. “I can’t wait to see how it plays out at Yahoo.”
D’Aloisio is just one of a number of under-21 entrepreneurs who have made millions at a very young age. Patrick Collison, who took his first computer class at age 8 and entered young scientist competitions as a teen in Ireland, was just 19 when he and his brother John sold their Silicon Valley start-up Auctomatic to Canadian company Live Current Media Inc., a deal that made them overnight millionaires.
“It was helpful perspective to have something like that happen very early on,” said Collison, who is now co-founder and chief executive of San Francisco payments start-up Stripe.
“It shows you that it’s not all that big a deal. Yes, it’s wonderful to create something that someone is interested in acquiring, and it’s nice to have more money than you had before, but really nothing changes. Enjoying what you do on a day-to-day basis is what’s important.”
The sudden flash of worldwide media attention has been a bit overwhelming, D’Aloisio said. But not in a bad way. “It’s been an absolutely awesome experience,” D’Aloisio said. “I’d love to do it again someday with another company.” Spoken like a true entrepreneur. [LA Times]

It’s not dreadlocks, I keep explaining to people. These are natural twists. On my last birthday, I decided to make a lot of changes in my life. I decided to reclaim my hair because I really had lovely hair growing up, and the first time relaxer ever touched my hair was when I was in the university.
After years of using too much chemical on it, I decided to just make a complete turnaround. Now, my hair is healthy, it’s long, it’s lovely. And I would never let relaxer touch it again. I don’t fix artificial nails again. I’m back to natural nails. I just put on some long-lasting polish. I fixed my nails for over 10 years but I’m tired of it now. I want to be healthy in my old age.

Your divorce came as a shock to a lot of people. Why did you take that decision?
Shock? Have you not heard that Seal and Heidi (Klum) have divorced? Haven’t you seen people who have been married for 20 to 25 years and divorced? I’m not perfect; no one is. We all have our low moments. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure.
Everybody goes through bad patches in life. Life must go on, whether we like it or not. It’s always better to part under good circumstances than for someone to be in jail, or die, or to be hurling insults at each other. There is no need for that.
It seems you don’t regret your divorce, because you always have this cheerful look?
It’s God. Looking back at my life, where I came from, I never even thought I would be an actress. I never even thought I would have an opportunity to meet people, to be a role mode. So, it’s not for me to feel self-pity.
I’m grateful to God every single day. I choose to be happy. I am a happy person. Someone encouraged me with these words yesterday: ‘Every problem you have will resolve and dissolve’.
So, my divorce is not the end of life and my God has given me cheer and joy. That explains why I am always happy and cheerful. No regrets.
Will you remarry?
I am not sure about remarrying but I will love again. I’m a lover, not a fighter. I’m only going to be very choosy. I don’t know about marriage, but, maybe, love.
You’ve kept your daughter away from the limelight. Is this deliberate?
Yes. You want them to kidnap my daughter? When they see her picture, then they will know who she is. I remember somebody sent a card to me through her school and I was so surprised.
They just dropped it on her desk and I was wondering how the person knew my daughter attends that school. Should she decide to step into the limelight later on, that would be her call, not mine. I’ve managed to keep her away and I’m sure I’ve done a good job. Now she is not even in the country and it’s better she schools there.

Women Arraigned For Cutting Girl With Blade In Fight For Choirmaster’s Love

Two women – Temitope Abigeal and Temitope Remi – have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ebute Meta on a three count of conspiracy, assault and grievous harm.
Abigeal (26) and Remi (28), choristers at a Cherubim and Seraphim church at Progressive Road, Ebute Meta, were alleged to have assaulted Hannah Okurabe (18) with razor blades at Abule Nla junction, a few metres away from the church.
The March 17, 2013 incident was said to be the result of an earlier fight over the church’s choirmaster, Joseph Unuigbe.
A father of two, Unuigbe is married to Folashade, who is also a member of the same church.
The defendants who pleaded not guilty to the charges, made a bail application through their counsel identified simply as Mr Chukwudi.
But the prosecutor, Mr. Ishola Samuel, objected to the bail application, saying that the complainant was presently admitted to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
However, the Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, ruled that the charge was a bailable offence and granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each while they are to produce two responsible sureties who must be relatives with verifiable addresses. Also, the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payments to the state government in the last three years.
The case was adjourned to April 17 2013.
The suspects are said to be currently remanded at the Kirikiri Minimum Prison.

Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark remarries at 86, to Dr Bisola Sodipo

Ijaw Leader and former Information Minister, Chief Edwin Clark remarried last week Sunday March 17th at the age of 86. Today is actually is 86th birthday. Happy birthday, sir! Back to the story. Chief Clark married well known medical doctor, Dr Abisola Sodipe Akindeko. The wedding ceremony took place at his home in Apapa and another one at the bride's home at Okupe Estate in Maryland.

Dr Abisola Akindeko is the former best friend of Iyabo Obasanjo who lost two of her children in an assassination attempt on Iyabo Obasanjo's life. Dr Abisola's children were riding in Iyabo's car when it was attacked by hired assassins in 2003. The gunmen, thinking Iyabo was in the car, shot into the car killing the two children instantly. Iyabo and Dr Abisola had been riding in the doctors car, while the children rode in Iyabo's car. It was a huge story back then. Glad to know she's doing well now!

Sen. David Mark denies buying the Chevy Corvette for 2face & Annie

The card on the car clearly says 'wedding gift from Senator David Mark', but the senate president's senior adviser on media, Kola Ologbondiyan, has released a statement denying it. Ologbondiya said:
Senator Mark did not visit Dubai for Tuface wedding rather he attended the 128th Inter parliamentary Union (IPU) conference currently holding in Quito, Ecuador. He was also not represented at Mr. Idibia's wedding. It is also instructive to state that the President of the Senate, Senator Mark, did not make a car donation of any kind to Tuface before departing Nigeria for Ecuador neither did he purchase nor send any car to Dubai as a wedding gift for the musician or his wife. Who made the donation on behalf of the President of the Senate?
It is therefore a puerile lie for anybody to state that Senator Mark bought a Ferrari car worth N47m for Tuface. The allegation is wicked, ridiculous and irresponsible.
Signed: Kola Ologbondiyan
Special Adviser, Media & Publicity to the President of the Senate David Mark
The Chevy Corvette is worth about N7m and if the Senate president says he didn't buy it, then we should give him the benefit of doubt. I doubt a man of his caliber will buy a wedding gift and then publicly deny buying it. I'm sure 2face Idibia's team will address this when they get back from Dubai

7 Men Found Dead And Placed On Plastic Chair With A Message Pinned To Their Chest

These shocking photos show how the bodies of seven men were found on plastic chairs in Mexico having been shot in the head, with threat messages nailed to some of their chests using ice picks.
A placard on one of the bodies, which were found early yesterday morning in Uruapan, Michoacan state, said: ‘Warning! This will happen to thieves, kidnappers, s*x offenders and extortionists.’
Seven bodies had bullet wounds and had been placed individually in the sitting position in chairs near a roundabout, local authorities said. The local attorney general’s office did not provide a motive.
Some of the bodies had their hands and feet bound, outside a Pepsi bottling plant. The men were believed to have been aged from 15 to 40. The bodies were found at 05:30 local time (11:30 GMT).
Meanwhile another seven people were killed in neighbouring Guerrero, where armed men opened fire in a bar in Ciudad Altamirano late on Friday. Four civilians and three off-duty federal agents died.
In Guerrero state, authorities said armed men opened fire in a bar in Ciudad Altamirano late on Friday, and four civilians and three off-duty federal agents were killed.
The officers were pursued by gunmen while walking to a local bank, and were killed after seeking refuge in a nearby hotel, an official with the federal police said.
Both states on Mexico’s western coast have seen a rise of violence in recent years attributed to drug cartels. Around 70,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence in Mexico in seven years.
President Enrique Pena Nieto, who took office in December, has vowed to quell the lawlessness and killing that have stained Mexico’s image as a tourist destination and rattled investors
