HUSHPUPPI AND MISERIES OF OTHERS

HUSHPUPPI AND MISERIES OF OTHERS

I spent about 8 years of my roughly 15 years in the banking sector as team lead of e-banking dispute resolution team and deputy head of E-banking Operations. In that role you get to see a lot of things that banking code of ethics won't allow me to divulge even now - the good, the bad and the disheartening. You see how e-fraud traps ensnare both innocent and greedy folks, alike. And it was one of my roles to help the bank's investigation department to unravel them.

But it was only one incidence of e-fraud that made me cry. The victim was an elderly man who just retired from service, after 35 years or so. His total gratuity was some N600,000.00 in 2009 or 2010 monies.

This fresh pensioner, despite repeated education by all financial institutions not to divulge personal account information, clearly compromised his account details and was hit hard, by online fraudsters like HUSHPUPPI. Between 11.55pm and 12.05am, on this sad day, the whole dividend of 35 years was gone!

By the morning, a call from both the branch and the customer service managers of the man's branch was transferred to me. Case was reported, and I requested to speak with the old man...

I asked him many questions, and it was obvious he compromised his details after falling prey to certain schemes. The man didn't cry, but in trembling and stuttering voice he kept asking me just one question: "se gbogbo e ti tan ni yen"? Is everything truly gone? Is it all finished...?

Tears rolled down my cheeks, as I affirmed the sad reality. I transferred the case to the bank's investigation unit which triggered hitech investigation in conjunction with police's FIU...

So, if you are a fan or defender of HUSHPUPPI and his associates, this is just an example of the misery their "profession" wrought on innocent lives.

But then, let us all know that NATURE is a very strict accountant. On a day of reckoning, it balances scores, reconciles accounts and correct misgivings without mercy.

Oshiomhole’s Posters, Pictures Removed From APC National Secretariat

Oshiomhole’s Posters, Pictures Removed From APC National Secretariat

Following the dissolution of the National Working Committee, NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, all posters and pictures of suspended national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, have been removed from the party’s national secretariat.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that this occurred barely 24 hours after the NWC was disbanded. Oshiomole’s pictures have been removed from two giant billboards mounted at the entrance gate and inside the party’s headquarters in Abuja, leaving only President Muhammadu Buhari’s poster.

It was gathered that shortly after the announcement of the NWC’s dissolution, staff at the secretariat jubilated and began to tear down/remove the Edo politician’s portraits from the reception and all the offices.

Oshiomole’s troubles originated from his rift with Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki. Both men have been at loggerheads for a while but the animosity between them heightened after the former influenced the disqualification of the latter from the party guber primaries. This led to Obaseki’s defection to PDP, a development that did not go down well with a large section of the party.

Shortly after, the court of appeal upheld Oshiomhole’s suspension and the party, in an extraordinary National executive committee meeting on Thursday dissolved the Oshiomole-led National Working Committee, NWC.

How Ajimobi Was Defrauded of N50m After Dispatching Private Jet To Fetch Fake Drugs From Bangladesh

How Ajimobi Was Defrauded of N50m After Dispatching Private Jet To Fetch Fake Drugs From Bangladesh

The last days of former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, who died  at First Cardiology Hospital in Lagos following Coronavirus complications, were devoid of peace as he was defrauded of N50m right on his sickbed.

Ajimobi was rushed to the hospital  after his health deteriorated significantly and soon slipped into a deep coma he never recovered from until he passed away.

In the period doctors were battling to save his life at the Lagos hospital, family members desperate to keep him alive reached out to a handful of Nigerians they knew abroad to help get a sizeable quantity of Remivir to be administered on him.

Manufactured in Bangladesh, the antiviral drug was previously tested in humans with Ebola virus disease and has shown promise in treating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) caused by Coronavirus, according to United States National Institutes of Health.

First, the assignment for the search for the drug was given to a Nigerian in Texas, United States, to see if he could help get it.

After days of contacting several trusted persons for the 'project', he gave up the search as the tight monitoring of the drug by the US government made it almost impossible for it to be moved out of hospitals.

The $50,000 paid was returned after another search for the drug in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, did not also materialise.

The hospitals contacted had only limited dose of the drugs, which is closely monitored by the US authorities desperate to stop the rising number of deaths related to Coronavirus.

After failing to get the drug in the US, members of Ajimobi circle turned attention to Bangladesh were it is being produced.

A Nigerian assured them of getting the needed quantity of Remivir to administer on the ex-Oyo governor and help save his life.

Subsequently, a jet and N50m was dispatched to the Asian country for the purchase and delivery but sadly the drugs procured by the Nigerian man was all fake.

He pocketed large chunk of the money and left the former governor to battle for his life at the Lagos hospital where for at least one week he was on a life support machine before he eventually died.

"All our guys here in the United States couldn't risk it because of the war act invoked by President Donald Trump that the drug should not get out of America.

"It is something I was involved in from the beginning. In fact, we gave $50,000 to one of our Nigerian guy who is a doctor in Los Angeles but he returned the money. He said the hospital had only 100 dose and everything was monitored on how it is used.

"But one Nigerian guy defrauded them after claiming he could get it in Bangladesh.

"They sent a flight and paid about N50m but the drug they got from him was fake," one of those privy to the search for the drugs disclosed.

A Nigerian man simply identified as Femi, stabbed his wife to death, and thereafter committed suicide in their home in Victory Park estate in Lagos state on Sunday, June 21.

According to residents of the estate, the couple moved into the estate three weeks ago with their two young children. Not much was known about the couple but just a day before the murder-suicide, they were spotted jogging together on Saturday night June 20.

However, on Sunday, the man who is said to have always questioned the paternity of their second child, stabbed his wife to death, and then took his own life.

A neighbor who spoke on condition of anonymity to LIB, said
On Sunday afternoon, neighbors close to the couple's apartment heard loud music emanating from their home and this lasted for many hours.

The neighbors went to the estate office to complain about the loud music and insisted the estate officials go there and caution the couple.

The estate authorities went to the couple's compound to appeal to them to turn down the volume of the music coming from their apartment.

They however met with the wife's sister who was downstairs with the couple's children. The sister immediately went upstairs so she can inform her sister and the husband about the complaint laid by the estate authorities. She knocked several times but got no response.

After waiting for so long, the sister and the estate officials decided to pull the door down. They were greeted by a horrific sight.

Apparently, the man had killed his wife. It is believed it was pre-meditated because when they got into the room, they saw different kinds of knives there. The woman's legs and hands were bound and her mouth shut with a cellotape. The husband used a clipper to shave her hair, stabbed her head, her eyes, stabbed her multiple times with different knives.

The scene was nothing short of a horror movie.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A TYRE BLOWOUT

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A TYRE BLOWOUT

In the event of the unfortunate death of Nigeria's minister of state for labour due to an accident occasioned by a tyre blowout and the fact that in Nigeria now-a-days, we have many untrained drivers, it has become pertinent for me to write this.

There are 6 simple steps to take within a maximum of 2 minutes and you will be safe, these by the grace of God I have been familiar with for decades. They are as follow:

(1) DON'T PANIC in the event of a blowout, calm yourself down fast because your car will start misbehaving and you need to take charge.

(2) Hold FIRMLY to your steering wheel with both hand, NO VIGOROUS TURNING, as you concentrate on the road and your mirrors, in seconds study the movement pattern of the car. Your car will naturally swerve to the direction of the burst tyre.

(3) Gradually take off your foot from the accelerator, DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO PRESS THE BRAKES, IF YOU DO, YOU HAVE A 95% CHANCE OF A SOMERSAULT. The car will decelerate gradually while you concentrate on the road to avoid collision with any other road user.

(4) Disengage the gears of the car by shifting to neutral (N) as you still maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel and put your eyes on the road.

(5) After a while depending on your initial speed, your car comes to a speed less than 60km/h when it is now safe to GRADUALLY apply the brakes and navigate to the side walk

(6) Ultimately, it is now safe to put the car to a complete stop and turn off the engine. You have just saved yourself and passengers from untimely death.

NOTE:
Of course, everyone in the car will be in a panic mode BUT this is NOT THE TIME TO LISTEN TO THEM, it is TIME TO CONCENTRATE.

Please, don't just read share on your page and copy to other platforms, you may just be about to save a life.
I pray thàt God will continue to keep us safe as we use the roads, amen.

BREAKING NEWS OYO STATE GOVERNOR COMMISSIONS CITY WATCH FACILITIES

BREAKING NEWS OYO STATE GOVERNOR COMMISSIONS CITY WATCH FACILITIES This evening, we recommissioned the expanded Security Control Room and City Watch facilities at the Oyo State Security Trust Fund Headquarters, Onireke, Jericho, Ibadan. I reiterated our administration's commitment to making Oyo State safe and secure for all within its borders.

For those familiar with my statements during my campaign trail, you will recall that I was going to scrap this entire architecture because the it was like a white elephant project. But I was convinced to give it another shot and today we have been rewarded with a functional centre.

The entire system has been reconfigured so that we no longer need to pay internet access fees of N3.5million/month. Also, we have acquired the license for the software for life so no longer need to run the trial version we met. This facility now wholly belongs to Oyo State.

We have also expanded the facilities so that the security operatives, including the police and civil defence, can work from there. At the moment, the cameras in eight locations are working. These include the Lagos-Ibadan Express Road and the Asejire axis. With this system, we can easily monitor human and vehicular traffic and even capture number plates of vehicles.

Also, a crime alert platform has been built into the Oyo State website. Everyone can log into the website, free of charge, and once they complete the process, with just a press of the button they can alert operatives of robbery, kidnapping or any other crime and their location and visuals will show up on the system.

Additionally, we have set up a Governor’s Monitoring Unit and a Crime Alert Unit. Vehicles are also positioned at the Security Trust Fund Headquarters so that the operatives can respond in real time to any crime reports.

The incident occurred around 10am at the Corps Command Post located at the Old toll gate corridor of the expressway, throwing the Ogun State sector Command of the FRSC into a hushed mourning.

The Nation learnt the lightening struck just as the FRSC officials were about observing their routine morning parade within the precinct of the office.

About a dozen of them were said to be around when the lightening struck, killing the three on the spot and also sent an electrical shock wave into the premises, jolting some of the survivors.

The FRSC Public Education and enlightenment Officer in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident but declined further comments.

ANAMBRA GOVT BARS JOURNALISTS FROM VISITING AIRPORT PROJECT SITE

ANAMBRA GOVT BARS JOURNALISTS FROM VISITING AIRPORT PROJECT SITE

By Joe Chukindi

Anambra State government on Tuesday barred journalists from visiting the site of the proposed cargo airport project in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

The journalists who were on an independent investigation to find out the level of work at the site were stopped by youths who insisted that they had the order of the state commissioner for works, Marcel Efejiofor not to let journalists into the site.

The state governor, Willie Obiano had flagged off the $2.2billion Umueri Cargo Airport project in April 2017, with a promise to complete the project in 18 months. He had added that the project was being undertaken by a Chinese Company, Sinoking International on a Build, Operate and Transfer agreement, with the state donating land as its only contribution to the project.

The project remained undone, while its delay in taking off was blamed on the seizure of a drone meant for aerial surveillance by the federal government.

Obiano, however, budgeted N6 billion for the project in the 2020 budget, saying that the state would recover its N6billion once the Chinese company returns to the site. He also promised to finish the project in 18 months.

Eight months to the 18months deadline, it is not certain how much work has been achieved.

Attempt to visit the project was vehemently rejected by the Commissioner for works who instead opted to speak to DAILY POST in his office in Awka, even though he was at the site.

“I don’t know what you want to be told about the project. Go and quote me, just say work has not started. I am not ready to talk further on the project, so you can say that I said no comment.

“If you have other things to know about the state of roads in Anambra, I will be ready to speak to you, but I am not willing to talk about the airport,” he said.

JUNE 12 LESSON TWO....

JUNE 12 LESSON TWO....

The 1993 SDP Jos Convention Presidential Primary was keenly contested between Abiola and Kingibe. Most SDP Governors wanted Kingibe, the immediate past Chairman of the party who helped most of them to become Governors, it was time to pay him back. Abiola faced a serious battle with the Governors who were in charge of their state delegates...... Another rival was the embittered Shehu Musa Yar'adua who was disqualified from running by IBB Government. Yar'adua sponsored Atiku whose role was like that of a spoiler but very strategic. He was used by Yar'adua, ultimately, to create a relevance for himself. To secure Yar'adua support, Abiola had conceded party Chairman position to Yar'adua group, a decision Lamidi Adedibu warned Abiola against. He said "Conceding party structure to your rival is like bidding your career farewell...".... Abiola a Businessman believed Adedibu was exaggerating... "how can we take all? We must share with everyone".... Adedibu told MKO he was going to regret it.

In Jos, it was tough. A stalemate between Abiola and Kingibe.... Abiola's lead wasn't enough, Kingibe needed Yar'adua support to finish MKO.... But smart Yar'adua knew Kingibe was as politically wise as he was, he chose to stay with his business partner MKO who he could easily trick..... Because really, Yar'adua still wanted to be President. Yar'adua made Atiku withdraw for MKO and the back of Kingibe was broken!

Not more than 5 minutes after his defeat, in order to outsmart Yar'adua, Kingibe quickly went straight to Abiola's Tent in Jos Stadium, everyone was shocked. He congratulated Abiola and pledged his total support. He, immediately, asked to be made Vice presidential candidate..... This made Abiola furious.... "We cannot discuss that here".... Adedibu again told MKO, "if you picked Kingibe, you're finished! How can you pick a serious rival like Kingibe as your VP? He didn't come to this place to become VP, otherwise he would have stepped down for you. This man is here because he wants to be President. How can you concede party structure to someone who contested against you and give VP slot to another rival who contested against you? This is not business, this is politics.... F'ara bale je ka ko e l'oselu? "

But the Governors insisted that unless Abiola pick Kingibe, they would not support him. Abiola conceded to the Governors and picked Kingibe. Kingibe was taken to Adedibu in Ibadan, he openly postrated for Adedibu seeking acceptance. Adedibu said " Rise, afterall, they've announced your name. I'm not the candidate, Abiola is and he had chosen you... I have no choice. Rise up, congrats....".

Abiola won. IBB annulled the election, Yar'adua opted for interim government to conduct new election where he could also run, instead of SDP leadership to rise against this and stand by their victory, they supported Yar'adua interim government idea and advised Abiola to forget June 12 Election.....

Interim Came and overthrown by Abacha..... Kingibe, the Vice presidential candidate of MKO left MKO and took a ministerial appointment under Sani Abacha.....

The political structures upon which Abiola mandate stood collapsed. Adedibu was right!

The people practically took over the battle and Abiola became ABIOLA of the People and not Abiola of the SDP! The battle became Peoples Battle.... Abiola died like ordinary man for the people.... Even though, he was always surrounded by the elites during his lifetime, it was the masses that gave him his burial!

African Development Bank VP resigns, says unrelated to whistleblower probe

The African Development Bank’s vice president for agriculture, human and social development, Jennifer Blanke, will step down from her post next month, the bank said on Wednesday.

A statement quoted Blanke, who joined the bank in 2017, as saying she was leaving “purely for family reasons to rejoin my family in Switzerland”, amid media speculation she planned to resign in response to controversy surrounding bank president Akinwumi Adesina.

Adesina was accused earlier this year of abuse of office by a bank whistleblower. An internal investigation cleared him of improper conduct, but the bank’s board said last week it had authorised an independent review of the report following pressure by the United States for a new probe

Happy Birthday to Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

Happy Birthday to Pastor W. F. Kumuyi.
The General superintendent of Deeper Christian life ministries worldwide.
Dairy of his birth,
Date of Birth: June 6, 1941
Current Age: 79 years.
Country of Birth: Nigeria

William Folorunso Kumuyi was born on June 6, 1941 into a Christian family in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, Nigeria. He was born into an Anglican family that knew the Bible was very important as the word of God; they would rise up early in the morning to sing hymns, read the Bible, and pray. However, it was not until he left home to attend high school in another part of the region that young W.F. Kumuyi got an experiential knowledge of who Jesus Christ was, and what radical changes He could effect in lives surrendered to His lordship.

While teaching mathematics at his alma mater in 1962, after graduating from high school in 1961, Pastor Kumuyi was introduced to the Apostolic Faith Church. He heard the Gospel, and believed the word of God on righteousness, temperance, judgment to come, and salvation from sin: Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi became born again on Sunday, April 5, 1964.

In his early Christian days, as he still does many good writers, Pastor Kumuyi read John Wesley, Charles Finney, and Charles Spurgeon, among others. He got involved with the Scripture Union (SU), and he grew spiritually.

Education
Formal education for Pastor William Kumuyi started in his home town; he went on to attend Mayflower School in Ikenne, near Ijebu-ode, whence he graduated with a high school diploma in 1961. After teaching at his alma mater for a brief period, Pastor Kumuyi gained admission to study mathematics at Nigeria’s premier institution of higher education, the University of Ibadan, obtaining a first class degree in 1967.

Pastor Kumuyi went back to teaching mathematics at Mayflower School, Ikenne, before going for a postgraduate course in education at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria. On the completion of his postgraduate study program, Pastor Kumuyi became a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Lagos in 1973.

Ministry
The Deeper Christian Life Ministry along with its church arm, the Deeper Life Bible Church, which now has over one million members in more than sixty countries around the world, started as a fifteen-member Bible Study group in Pastor William Kumuyi’s official quarters (Flat 2) at the University of Lagos in August, 1973.

While doing his postgraduate work at the University of Lagos, some people who knew Pastor Kumuyi as a member of the Scripture Union (SU) would approach him to ask questions about the Bible and Christian living. Some of these enquirers would come at odd hours, so the Pastor felt it was better they gather as a group to study the Bible, on Monday evenings in his apartment, instead of spending so much time dealing with them as individuals.

Soon enough, the time came when Flat 2 could no longer hold the Bible Study participants, so they spilled outside and occupied the front of the building. In due course, as more people came and the Bible Study Group grew, it became necessary in 1976 to find a more commodious place outside of the university campus. Because the Group was non-denominational, people were happy to come from various churches to study with Lecturer Kumuyi, as the Pastor was still called at that time. Soon, the Bible Study Group membership went over 1,500.

By 1988 the congregation had grown to 50,000, and now numbers over 120,000 members, making it the third largest Christian church in the world. Dr. Johan Combrinck reports that the Deeper Life Bible Church not only has an attendance of 120,000 every Sunday, but has planted more than 500 churches in Lagos, and over 5,000 in the rest of Nigeria (with an independent estimate of more than 800,000 members in Nigeria alone), and 3,000 elsewhere (with missionaries to 40 countries of Africa) as the movement missionary contribution.

“The history of Deeper Life is very much the personal story of W.F. Kumuyi. He is a gifted man, clear-thinking and humble. He is a dedicated Christian and deserves the title ‘the man of God,' which his followers have given him. Since he was a young man, Kumuyi has devoted his time to reading and studying the Bible. He knows the Scriptures inside out, and has deep love for the word of God, so people have been drawn to him for advice, or simply to listen. When he preaches, his message is clear, simple, and profound. Poor street traders who can barely read sit next to university professors, all equally captivated by the way Scripture becomes suddenly relevant to them.

Pastor Kumuyi's own Christian life developed because he took the Bible so seriously, and so the Deeper Christian Life Ministry has developed in the same way.

His sermons were captivating. In fact, "I would classify him as one of the greatest living preachers, giving a straightforward Bible-based message, his sermons thorough, and always personally challenging. He always gave a wide range of cross-references which were read in their context, supporting, clarifying and expanding his main points. He spoke clearly and authoritatively to the Nigerian situation.

A Man With a Great Heart For God!
He is not tall, and does not have a larger-than-life character. He does not dominate, nor has he accrued power to himself. He walks slowly, is relaxed, and has a gentle sense of humour with a warm smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He dresses simply, eats simply... and... could have assumed titles to himself. As the Deeper Christian Life Ministry developed - most people enjoy the trappings and regalia of status which followers gladly give. But he calls his followers brothers and sisters, and treats them as colleagues.
Kumuyi remarried in October 2010 in London about 18 months after the death of his first wife.

With all the above stories of his life we pray that GOD will continued to keep him strong and healthy in Jesus name, Amen.
Once again happy birth to our father in the Lord.

No physical church service yet, MFM tells members

In a statement that was disclosed by the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Media Committee Chairman, Pastor Oladele Bank-Olemoh, told its members that services will henceforth be transmitted live on the television as the church is yet to resume physical service.

The chairman however, said that the ministry’s General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya, considered the safety implications of re-opening the church for service, hence the reason for the decision.

He said, “The General Overseer, Dr Odukoya considered the safety implication of reopening the service in view of its crowded services, prayer and deliverance nature; vibrancy and the peculiarity of her worship modes.”

SOMETHING DRASTIC MUST BE DONE ABOUT THESE BEASTS RAPING AND KILLING...

A 39-year-old man, identified as Charles Okoro, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl who lives in the same compound with her single mum, Benita Ibe in Aba, Abia state.

While speaking with LIB, the mother of the victim stated that she returned home and noticed that his daughter was not walking well.   Her  daughter later opened up on how Charles defiled her in his house and threatened to kill her if she tells anyone.

”The suspect is my neighbor. My daughter normally stays at home with her sister. If I am not around, they stay together. On May 19, I noticed that the way my daughter wasn’t walking well. I asked her and she said nothing. I observed that something was wrong because she started having discharge. I told her someone must have touched for such to happen.

She then told me that she cannot say it because the person told her that she will die if she ever says it. I asked her who is the person and she told me it was my neighbor who is also from my local government.

POLICE ARREST 3 BROTHERS FOR THE KIDNAP AND MURDER OF A MOTHER OF 5 IN ABUJA

POLICE ARREST 3 BROTHERS FOR THE KIDNAP AND MURDER OF A MOTHER OF 5 IN ABUJA
- Exhume remains of the deceased for forensic examination

Police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Team IRT of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three (3) suspects namely; Johnson Emmanuel - 38yrs, Gideon Emmanuel - 31yrs and Success Emmanuel - 27yrs for the kidnap and gruesome murder of one Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya on 14th May, 2020. The suspects, born by same parents, all male and native of Isiekenesi, Ideato LGA of Imo State were arrested by the Police in their home town where they had taken refuge after committing the crime in Abuja, in order to evade police arrest.

Investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects is sequel to complaints received from one Chinedu Ogbonnaya who alleged that his mother, Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya, 55yrs, native of Ozuitem in Bende LGA of Abia State had been kidnapped and a 5-Million naira ransom demanded before she could be released. A comprehensive and painstaking investigation by the police operatives resulted in the arrest of the three (3) suspects, whom, in the course of interrogation, revealed that the victim had long been murdered and buried. Further findings revealed that the victim, a widow, who had been a Facebook friend of the principal suspect – Johnson Emmanuel, was lured from her home in Gwagwalada to visit the suspect. The suspect thereafter took advantage of the visit, served her yoghurt laced with drugs and subsequently had her murdered. The suspect having killed the victim and buried her remains in a septic tank, went ahead to reach out to the family of the victim using her phone and demanded 5-Million naira ransom as pre-condition for her release.

Meanwhile, today 4th June, 2020, the suspects led a team of investigators alongside pathologists to a residence at Wumba District, Lokogoma, Abuja where the victim’s decomposing body was exhumed from a septic tank. The exhumed body has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja for forensic examination.

A Toyota Highlander Jeep belonging to the deceased has also been recovered by Police operatives at a mechanic workshop in Apo where it had been repainted into a different colour, vehicle documents fraudulently changed and ownership of the stolen vehicle criminally transferred to one of the masterminds of the crime – Johnson Emmanuel.

Investigations also revealed that the house where the deceased was killed and buried originally belonged to one of the suspects but was hurriedly sold-off to a third party apparently to obliterate evidence.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, while commending the operatives of IRT for a job well done, reassures that perpetrators of any form of crimes in the country will not go undetected and unpunished. He however enjoins citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspicious activities within their neighbourhood to the nearest police station.

Dealing with the loss of a loved one?

Dealing with the loss of a loved one? Read these encouraging words from a man who lost his wife, daughter and sister in-law to the Dana Air  Plane Crash.

WEEKLY WITH IKE C. IBE

(Draw strength from us)

It was June 3, 2012. I was on the driver’s seat. Jennifer my lovely daughter was in the front with me while her mother and my dear wife Nancy was at the back seat with Jessica our strong daughter. We were on our way to the Abuja airport to drop off Nancy and Jennifer. They were going to lagos to catch their fright to India through Dubai. We got to the airport about 2 pm all hugged each other and said our good byes. 45 minutes after we left the airport driving back, Jessica said ‘Dad call mum now, something is wrong’. She was serious so I pulled over and kept trying her line but it was switched off because they were airborne. Jessica said ‘God I hope nothing happens to my mum and sister, I hope I see them again’. We didn’t see them again. I had then dropped Jessica at the church to continue her Catechism class for her upcoming confirmation. As soon as I got home and sat in front of the TV, the news flashed that the Dana flight from Abuja to lagos has crashed and there were no survivors. My dear wife Nancy, my loving daughter Jennifer and my wife’s aunty Maria were gone forever. That was how our lives crashed immediately. Our help has been in the lord. His rod and staff has been comforting us. It’s exactly 8 years today since that crash. Jessica and I and all our family members both the Ibes and Okwulehies have gone through unimaginable trauma but the Lord has been our strength. We have lived through it and still keeping strong. It is only the grace of God and our faith in Him that has kept us strong. Life has never been the same for us but there is no adversity that life throws at us that we cannot survive as long as there is God. I have written a book about this, spoken at several events across the world and given people strength and renewed hope from our experience. Whatever life throws at you, someone has already passed through it. Pick up the pieces and continue to trust in God. Oh yes, you can also draw from our strength. Don’t you ever loose your faith or question God. We are all conquerors and God is with us. May the souls of Nancy, Jennifer and aunty Maria and the souls of all faithful departed rest in peace. Amen. #Youneedtoknow

The suspects paraded at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta was arrested over their alleged involvement in cultism, armed robbery, murder and illegal possession of firearms.

“A few days after, the police came for my arrest again and kept me in custody for another two years before I regained my freedom again in 2017.

“I have not renounced my membership. They didn’t give me the chance because they told me that they would kill me if I renounced my membership.

“I was made Chairman of a unit in the RTEAN in Ijebu Ode, but I can tell you that I have not killed 16 people, but only three.”

EXCLUSIVE: Gbolahan Lawal, immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, set to be named new oniru

EXCLUSIVE: Gbolahan Lawal, immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, set to be named new oniru

The stage is set for Gbolahan Lawal, immediate Lagos commissioner for agriculture to be announced as the new oniru of Iru.

He resigned his appointment as commissioner this afternoon, preparatory to taking over as the first-class monarch of Iruland, which covers Victoria Island, Lagos state.

The affluent Victoria Island encompasses Lagos Island, Ikoyi and the Lekki Peninsula.

There have been controversies over who occupies the seat since September 2019 when Idowu Abiodun, the former oniru, died aged 82.

The tussle had been between Adesegun, a former commissioner and son of the late ruler whom some chiefs had reportedly endorsed, and Hakeem Ajasa, a retired police officer also endorsed by a part of the royal family.

Hon. Lawal was born on July 24, 1970, he obtained a degree in botany from the University of Port Harcourt in 1992.

In 2008, he obtained his post graduate degree in violence, conflict and development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Hon. Lawal began his career at the raw materials research and development council at the federal ministry of science and technology in 1994 as a scientific officer.

He later joined the Nigerian police force and was commissioned as a cadet assistant superintendent.

As a police officer, he served as ADC to Tinubu who was governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2003.

Lawal retired voluntarily in 2008 as a superintendent of police.

A year after, he was appointed as senior special assistant on special projects by Babatunde Fashola, then governor of the state.
He was also the coordinator of the agriculture-based youth empowerment scheme (Agric-YES).

He was first appointed commissioner for agriculture and cooperatives in 2011.
In 2015, he was again appointed commissioner of housing by Akinkunmi Ambode, then governor of the state.

Abiodun said that Ayemoba sexually assaulted his daughters, now aged 20 and 23, between 2013 and 2019.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect usually threatened to kill them and commit suicide if they denied him carnal knowledge,” the PPRO said.

He also said that police detectives attached to Kagara division in Rafi Local Government Area have arrested one Ezekiel Yonana, 25, for raping an 85-year-old woman in Tukunguna village.

Abiodun said the incident occurred on May 23 at about 23:00 am while the old woman was asleep.

According to the PPRO, the suspect, a resident of Unguwar Ya’u Tunguna village criminally trespassed into her room and threatened to kidnap her for ransom.

“The suspect forcefully had canal knowledge of the 85-year-old before she was rescued by her grandson.”

Abiodun said that the two suspects had confessed to the crimes and would be charged to court.

He appealed to residents to volunteer information about suspected criminal elements in their midst.
