The number of Nigerian celebrities who are eyeing politics as their next means of impacting society is swelling. With actors like Kanayo O. Kanayo and Kate Henshaw having taken an active interest in politics, one actor who has made known his desire to join the fray long before others, is Desmond Elliot, and in an interview with a national dailym, he outlined the reasons for his desire.
“The current situation is very pathetic. I feel God has helped me thus far and I want to give back to the youths through politics. The worst part of our national life is the level of corruption which has not allowed youths to understand what it means to live a meaningful life. Just because of a lack of knowledge of what to do, we are being side-tracked. There are no jobs and issues like these lead to frustration. A whole lot needs to be done on agriculture; every state in Nigeria needs to see how it can contribute to nation-building. There’s a lot that needs to be done,” he said.
