Elvon Jarrett returns in Bitter To Swallow

The themes of betrayal, back-biting and youthful exuberance are what viewers will be treated to in two new films co-produced by high-flying gospel actor, Elvon Jarrett.
Jarrett told Arts Dome that the films; Bitter To Swallow and Expected End took the cast many months to produce because “it is his tradition to give his best to any production he is involved in.’’
Produced on the stable of Friends of God Media, the movies, according to Jarrett, will impress any viewer who appreciates quality acting and production.
He said, ‘‘In Bitter To Swallow, a young lady enters a relationship which unknown to her is the envy of her friends who scheme to edge her out and take her position. The story is full of suspense and teaches a lot of moral lessons. Also, youths will be glued to their seats when they watch Expected Endbecause it is studded with timely messages for the present time.’’
He also said there were initial challenges of funding, logistics and getting performers for Expected End which parades students.
‘The last strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities really affected us because we needed students to feature in the movie and many of the campuses were locked. We only resumed production after it was called off. We thank God that it ended well at the end of the day,” Jarret added.
Jarrett, who studied Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Ibadan and also earned a master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts in the same institution, said Expected End was written by a lecturer, Dr. Femi Owofadeju while Kemi Ogunsola wrote Bitter To Swallow.
Some of those who acted in both films are Lolade Eniola, Abel Martins, Oreofe Williams, Lara Ayoola and Kolade Igbasan.
