Amokachi, Shorunmu Give Me Good Advice – Keshi

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi has given his assistants, Daniel Amokachi, Ike Shorunmu and other members of his technical crew thumbs-up, saying he has absolute trust on them.

He said the coaches have been of immense benefit to his success as Super Eagles coach, insisting that he never received negative or counter-productive counsels from them.

Keshi was speaking in Abuja on his decision to extended invitation to players from Nigeria National League (NNL) to fight for shirt in Super Eagles Team B camp preparing for the South Africa 2014 ‘African Nations Championship’ (CHAN).

Keshi recently invited the quartet of Obannu Erhune, Ikeleji Bello of Bendel Insurance, as well as Ewenike Achibi of Warri Wolves and Mfon Udoh from Enyimba to strengthen his squad ahead of the CHAN tournament. He said he relied on the advices of his assistants who have been monitoring the players to invite them to camp.

“It is not necessary that if you are good you will be here. That is not our policy. You must have a club where we can see you play week-in, week-out. We have to see you play four or more games before we call you for our own trial.

“My colleagues have been tracking these players for some time now and wanted us to give them a chance to fight for shirts. I have trust in my coaches because they have never given me any bad advice,” he said.

The 3rd edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled for South Africa will hold January with Nigeria qualifying for the championship meant for the players based on the African continent the first time.
