NIGERIAN WOMAN STABS CHEATING HUSBAND TO DEATH IN THEIR US HOME

A 35-year-old  woman has been charged with killing her husband, who she claimed abused and cheated on her with several women including her sister and their nanny’s daughter, according to court records. The husband, 37-year-old Adeyinka Adebamiro, was found stabbed in a first-floor spare bedroom of the couple’s home in the 1300 block of Healy Court early Thursday, according to court documents obtained by The News Journal.

New Castle County police were called to the home at about 12:40 a.m. for an unknown problem. Arriving officers found Adeyinka Adebamiro unconscious with a stab wound to the upper body. New Castle County paramedics pronounced him dead at 1:37 a.m., said Officer Tracey Duffy, a county police spokeswoman.

The victim, his wife, Temitope Adebamiro and their two children and nanny had been living at the home for the past two years.

Officers took residents of the home – including Temitope, who was wearing blood-stained clothing according to court documents – to the Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building near New Castle.

According to police and documents, the two had been married for more than 10 years, during which time she told investigators that he’d physically abused her, even while pregnant with their two children.

She also told investigators her husband had been cheating on her with various women, including her own sister and the nanny’s daughter, papers said. The papers, however, did not say how old the nanny’s daughter was.

Temitope also told investigators her husband had sent her to Nigeria for several months, papers said. After returning in December, she had to stay in a hotel near the Philadelphia airport for four days because her husband refused to let her into their Red Lion home.

He then paid for her to fly back to Nigeria for a few more months, according to documents. About this time, she learned that her husband had spent Christmas with the nanny’s daughter.

The husband later flew out to Nigeria and flew back with her to Philadelphia. As he showed her the cameras inside their home over his cellphone, Temitope saw the nanny’s daughter inside the home, documents claim.

At one point, Temitope saw several texts and images in her husband’s phone, which she took pictures of using her cellphone. Some of the pictures included images of her sister and the nanny’s daughter. The documents do not detail the images beyond that.

As the investigation drew to the night before the killing, police learned the couple had been talking and watching television on the couch about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Temitope and her husband began arguing after he discovered the photos she’d taken on her cellphone and he began erasing them, according to court papers.

As he yelled at her, Temitope told police there was a power outage at which time she went to the kitchen until power returned, according to documents.

Investigators checked with Delmarva Power, which indicated no such power outage occurred at that time, police said.

Temitope then told police that when the power returned, she found her husband in the first-floor bedroom lying in the bed. As she got closer to him, she saw a knife on the ground which she picked up and took to the kitchen. according to documents.

As she put it away, she noticed blood on the tip and that’s when she realized that he was stabbed, the papers said.

While not admitting to the killing, the court papers claim Temitope changed her story several times about what happened in the bedroom, including to say that she entered first and her husband followed her in with the knife but that he later dropped it.

Temitope suggested that her husband stabbed himself, according to the papers. The autopsy, according to the papers, said the homicide was a single stab wound just below the victim’s neck, about 2 inches off the center line. The stab was 4 inches deep and severed the victim’s carotid artery and jugular vein.

When police told Temitope that this was not a suicide, the woman “began nodding her head in agreement,” according to court documents.

Temitope was charged with first-degree murder and other charges. She was arraigned and committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution where she is being held without bail

African countries happy over President Jonathan’s defeat – Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday said countries across the African continent are happy over the outcome of the presidential election in Nigeria, which saw the defeat of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mr. Obasanjo said his checks in a number of African countries suggested they were as happy over the result of the election as majority of Nigerians are.
He referred to President Goodluck Jonathan as a moving train who was providentially stopped from collapsing Nigeria.
“I have visited six countries since the election, they are as happy about the results as we are in Nigeria. It is good not only for Nigeria, it is good for Africa and I believe it is good for the world.”
Mr. Obasanjo, who led the African Union Observation Mission to the April 2015 General Election in Sudan, spoke on Thursday at a Washington DC event.
The former president described Nigeria as a country that obsessively plays “a dangerous game of moving close to the precipice”.
He said the country came close to disintegration in the run-up to the 2015 elections but switched swiftly to the path of redemption after the polls.
“I hope we will not fall over one of these days,” he said.
He said one month to the election, no one believed “we will have a peaceful election that is reasonably free and fair.”
Describing his role in the election as that of a person standing on the track of a moving train, the former president said during the countdown to the elections, he faced the option of “jumping off” the tracks or “be crushed” if the train did not providentially get “derailed and stop.”
He said he did not jump and was not crushed adding that “at every stage, there must be leaders imbued with sufficient courage and will to stand firm when you have to stand firm.”
He described the results of the elections as what Nigerians “deserve” though some Nigerians “did not want it”.
Mr. Obasanjo was the featured speaker at the United States Institute for Peace (USIP) event titled What is Right with Africa: Reframing Africa’s Leadership Challenges.
He made these remarks in response to a question by Princeton Lyman, a former ambassador to Nigeria.
Mr. Obasanjo observed that Nigeria’s tendency to flirt with near-death experiences stretches back to colonial times when it almost cost the country the chance of gaining political independence from Britain.
Recalling colonial-era disagreements over self-rule, the former President said at a stage, advocates of self-rule from the Eastern and Western Regions decided to “let the North go” since their leaders were reluctant to accept regional autonomy back then.
“But reason prevailed,” he said, “East and West got internal autonomy in 1957, North got same in 1959 and the whole country got independence in 1960.”
Listing the 1964 post-election violence in the south west and the 1966 coup d’etats which led to “pogrom and civil war” as other self-destructive phases in the country’s history, the former president remarked that Nigeria emerged from all of these as “one entity” in spite of contrarian speculations.
“Not only did we survive the civil war but, within nine years, somebody from the rebel side, as we called them, and somebody from the vandal side, as they called us, became president and vice-president of Nigeria. Not many countries achieve that,” he said.
President Obasanjo described the 2015 election as “almost in the same category” as other near-death experiences in Nigeria’s history.

"I'm hopeful at the possibility of being nominated Senate President' - Bukola Saraki

There are speculations that Sen. Bukola Saraki and Sen. George Akume of Benue state are the frontrunners for Nigeria's next Senate president.

Who buys a private jet for $10m for goodness sake? Alison-Madueke

Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke asked who buys a private jet for $10million after she was accused of buying one for that amount while in office. "Who buys a private jet for $10million for goodness sake?". Mrs Madueke said while responding to questions bordering on the Petroleum Industry Bill asked by newsmen in Abuja today April 22nd. She also said she stepped on big toes with the reforms she brought but never committed any crime. What she said below...
"In that bill are all the reforms needed to tear NNPC apart, make it a National Oil company, an equity share company through transparency, accountability & responsibility and reduce corruption in the industry. We did all theses and we put them in place to reduce corruption, so for me to be tagged with various tags of corruption, $10 million jet purchases, who buys jet for $10 million dollars for goodness sake?
And $20 billion missing money for which PWC had done a report and the $1.48 billion which is not missing, which is actually money transferred by the NNPC to NPDC which is a subsidiary and NPDC has actually started making payments under my directives. I have said during our time that there are gaps in the NNPC and I said that openly.  But I can also say that at no time in Nigerian history in the oil and gas has the NNPC been as open and audited as it is today. It has been positioned to go forward in the industry. It is true that the revenue profile is not sustainable. But we have done our best and the Nigerian oil and gas sector is today in a better shape than it has ever been in terms of achievements that we have recorded. So let me state it clearly for the records that Nigeria is my country and I am not going anywhere. I love my country and I do think that I have done the best for my country and I would also like to point these malicious, malevolence, vindictive libels need to stop. We have done enough for this industry, we cannot please everybody. Yes, we have stepped on toes but we did that in the best interest of Nigeria and we have opened up the oil and gas industry to all Nigerians, thousands of Nigerians have benefited from our reforms in the system.”she said
She also said that her visit to former Military Head of state was not in anyway to seek for any soft landing because she is on her way out of office. She said in her bid to open up the oil and gas industry for more Nigerians to be involved, she stepped on many toes, particularly toes of the big cabals in the oil and gas industry
"I have not sought such assistance because I am not aware that I have been indicted of any crime that I will need a soft landing. Over the last four years, I have been severally and unfortunately accused and labelled in so many malicious and vindictive ways. I have explained these things and pushed back robustly on these accusations  and I have even gone to court on many of them. Yet they keep being regurgitated. I think it is unfortunate, particularly when we are moving into a transition period and looking forward to an incoming government  which is coming to take over where we have ended. For everything that has a beginning there is an end and that is not a surprise. What is the surprise is the sort of malevolence bothering on personal malicious libel to my person during this period of time. I do believe that I have done the best for Nigeria in this job and I have attained many firsts in the history of oil and gas especially in the reforms that we have done. In this period of time, I have stepped on many big toes, particularly the toes of the cabals that were in the industry when we came in. I have said severally that we will open up the industry to all Nigerians, and we have, but that is not to the pleasure of certain cabals.  And I have been continuously maligned because of this. We have taken millions and in fact billions of dollars out of the hands of multinationals and their subcontractors and put them in the hands of Nigerians through the Nigerian Content. Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have come into the oil and gas industry because of our reforms. Quite frankly, I think as unprecedented as it is, it does not please everybody and that cannot be helped but let us remember the unprecedented reforms that have happened in the oil industry during our time, such as major gas reforms, the Petroleum Industry Bill, which has been completely revised, reformed and put into the hands of members of the National Assembly where it has languished for two years.”she said

Xenophobia: 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN leaves Nigeria

MTN Nigeria says about 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN is made to leave Nigeria. Head of Communications MTN, Mr Wale Goodluck said this while reacting to calls by a protest group in Edo state yesterday that the telecommunications offices in Nigeria will be shut and their installations attacked if the xenophobic attacks in South Africa continues.

Mr Goodluck said there are only 12 expatriates working for the company in Nigeria compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians.
"So if people go ahead with their threats to attack our facilities, what that means is that we may be forced to close down the business in Nigeria and about 6,000 Nigerians that make up 99% of our workforce will be unemployed.
Then, when you look at our support chain, we have about 500,000 Nigerians gainfully employed. So, boycotting our services simply means destroying so many other Nigerian businesses and making over 500,000 other Nigerians to lose their jobs. This business supports a lot of businesses across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Many of the businesses that are affiliated to South Africa are in the retail space, supporting the growth of Nigeria and employing so many Nigerians. We see no revenge of Xenophobia and we commend the role the Nigerian High Commissioner in South Africa has played; at least there has been no fatality on the part of any Nigerian,” he said

Former Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi sentenced to 20 years in prison

An Egyptian criminal court in Cairo, Egypt's capital has sentenced former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to 20 years in prison over the killing of protesters in 2012. The former President's supporters attacked opposition protesters outside the presidential palace in December 2012, sparking clashes that killed at least 10 people.

Delivering judgement today, Judge Ahmed Youssef dropped the murder charges against Morsi and said the sentence was instead linked to the “show of force” against protesters & unlawful detentions. Morsi who is Egypt's first freely elected president came into office in 2011 after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak. He was ousted by the army in 2013.

Group hails IGP sack, says "he collaborated with APC to subvert

Press statement from Ekiti state. Read below...
A pressure group in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Democratic Coalition (EDC) has hailed the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, accusing the sacked IGP of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert the mandate of Ekiti people freely given to Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Reacting to the sack of Suleiman Abba, EDC, in a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Boladale Adeniyi, alleged that the sacked IGP and the immediate past Commissioner of Police in the State, Taiwo Lakanu aided the APC lawmakers in their evil plot to remove Governor Fayose.
The group alleged that Suleiman Abba was to be used by the APC to subvert democracy in Ekiti and some other PDP controlled States. "Lakanu was removed unceremoniously as Ekiti State Commissioner of Police. Now, Suleiman Abba too has been sacked. "The major lesson to be learnt here is that Fayose’s mandate is being guarded by God and He is ready to humiliate anyone working against the people's governor," EDC said.

The group warned the APC lawmakers to tread the path of peace and development rather than advertising their hatred for Ekiti and its people. It said; "If you were using Lakanu against Ekiti people and Lakanu was removed, you were also using IGP Suleiman Abba, he has now been sacked, shouldn't it be clear to those plotting against Fayose that they are hitting their heads against Ekiti rocks?

"The fate that befell CP Lakanu and IGP Suleiman Abba is enough to tell those still running from pillar to poll, plotting Fayose’s impeachment to understand that Fayose holds Ekiti people's mandate and fighting against him is like fighting against the entire people of Ekiti and the Lord who created them."

‘Local gin’ responsible for 18 mystery deaths in Ondo

Nigerian health authorities said on Monday that ethanol poisoning from a local gin may have been responsible for the sudden death of 18 people last week.

“We strongly suspect ethanol poisoning and in view of this, we have ordered for another toxicology test for the surviving victims,” Ondo state health commissioner Dayo Adeyanju told AFP.

Preliminary investigations ruled out viral or Ebola infection for the outbreak of the mysterious illness in the southwestern town of Ode-Irele on April 15.

“Our investigations revealed that five of the victims took local gin mixed with herbs. Three of them died while the other two have been put under close observation,” he said.

In total, 23 people were affected, out of which 18 died. The five others were referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for further tests and monitoring.

Adeyanju said the disease was not contagious, adding no new case has been reported for the past four days.

“We will continue to monitor the situation. We are appealing to our people to report any case of sudden illness or death to the health authorities for immediate action,” he added.

Experts from the World Health Organization were in Ode-Irele to investigate the ailment with a view to containing it.

The global health body said on Sunday that pesticide poisoning was the likely cause of the mysterious deaths.

The victims, whose symptoms included headache, weight loss, blurred vision and loss of consciousness, all died within a day of falling ill.

Xenophobic attacks: Nigerian youths threaten to shutdown MTN, Shoprite, Multichoice/DSTV

Some youths, under the aegis of The Flagship, have threatened to shutdown South African firms operating in Nigeria over the alleged killing of Nigerians and looting of their property in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The aggrieved youths said this on Monday during a protest at the office of telecommunications giant, MTN, on 3rd East Circular Road, Muritala Muhammed Way, in Benin. the Edo State capital.

They also carried placards with several inscriptions, some of which read, ‘Xenophobia is ‎inhuman’, ‘Zuma, call your boys to order’ and ‘S/Africans can’t be making money from us, killing us’.
Spokesperson for the group, Austin Enabulele, described the alleged attacks as inhuman and condemnable, adding that the protest was a warning to the South African government to put a stop to the attacks on Nigerians or risk losing its foreign investments.

Enabulele said, “We are all Africans; we wonder why they should attack our fellow Nigerians who are doing their legitimate business in South Africa, when we have shown them love to operate in Nigeria.

“We have come here to say to (President Jacob) Zuma to call his people to order(caution them) because if he fails to call them to order(caution them) we will do the needful. We are aware of all their business in Nigeria; we know of MTN; we know of Shoprite; we know of Multichoice company and we know of every other companies that belong to South Africa.

“We will shut down all their services if they continue the killing of our brothers and sisters. So, we have come here to tell them to put an end to the killing of our brothers and sisters, who are doing their legitimate jobs in South Africa.”

Also speaking, the Vice President of the group, Gloria Noren‎, decried what she described as ingratitude of South Africans, whom she said had received financial support from Nigeria during the apartheid era

The power of Prayer !!! Woman (or witch) caught defecating in a pastor's home

Weird story that you must read. This woman is supposed to a witch or something. I don't understand the story so I'll just let you read from the horse's handwriting. Find below...
A woman who can only be identified by her surname, Mahlalela, from Ebatsakatsini near Komatipoort in South Africa was caught red handed by a child in the wee hours of this morning, in the kitchen, defecating in a bucket inside the house of the Word of God Church Pastor, Pastor Nsingwane.
The man of the cloth says the way the woman got into his house remains a mystery as the doors and windows in the house were all shut and locked. When asked by the police what she was doing in the house, Mahlela told the police officer she was at the house to perform evil deeds on the family but she was caught, changing her earlier statement in which she’d claimed to be part of a team which works for a certain  master and that she fell off the rope she was holding on to when she and her 15 collegues were flying.
"We use a rope to fly and I was sitting at the back when I fell off,” she said.
The village of Ebatsakatsini is a place created for people evicted from any of the 54 villages around Nkomazi after being accused of witchcraft

Xenophobia: Nigerians lost N21m in burnt cars, looted & burnt shops, - envoy

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the Nigerian Consul-General in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, said Nigerians residing in South Africa have lost more than N21m Rand (1.2m) in looted shops, burnt shops, two burnt mechanic workshops, 11 burnt cars and two stolen cars, among others since the xenophobic attacks in some parts of South Africa started. She said the damages are enormous. What she said after the cut...

"Nigerians have compiled the cost of the damage to their property and it is totalling about 1.2 million Rand or N21 million, which will be sent to the Federal Government for further action. The Nigerian mission in South Africa is on top of the situation. We are working hard to protect Nigerians in South Africa. Though the task has not been easy but we are trying our best. In one of the hot spots at Jeppe, near Johannesburg, the mission assisted about 50 stranded Nigerians to re-settle. I have also visited the site of the attacks in Johannesburg to assess the damage and it was enormous. I am bringing all Nigerians together so that we work out a vigilance and alert mechanism; they will also tell me what their challenges and issues are" she said
