The UN scribe assured President Jonathan that the United Nations was ready to help Nigeria in every possible way.
The Secretary General of the United Nations, UN, Ban Ki Moon, on Thursday telephoned President Goodluck Jonathan to convey the sympathy and solidarity of the global community with the government and people of Nigeria over the kidnap of the over 250 girls in Chibok, Borno State.
This was stated by the presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a statement on Thursday.
The spokesperson said the UN scribe assured President Jonathan that the United Nations was ready to help Nigeria in every possible way to rescue the abducted girls and achieve greater security of lives and property in all parts of the country.
There has been local and international outrage since the girls were kidnapped from their school dormitory on the night of April 14.
The U.S., U.K., and China are among the countries that have pledged to provide necessary assistance in the rescue of the girls from the Boko Haram insurgent group.
The sect’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, in a recent video threatened to sell or marry off the teenagers.
