BREAKING: Controversial Rivers Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, redeployed

The controversial Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, has been redeployed.
Mr. Mbu was redeployed alongside 13 other police commissioners by the Police Service Commission, PSC, according to the official government news agency, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
Mr. Mbu was redeployed to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja,
The new Commissioner of Police in Rivers would now be Tunde Ogunsakin, who was redeployed from the Special Fraud Unit.
However, the police in Rivers says it is not aware of the redeployment as it has not been briefed by the police headquarters.
The spokesperson of the police in Rivers, Ahmad Muhammad, told us that the Rivers Police is not aware of such directive.
“Posting of senior officers is done by the Force Headquarters, with this kind of news you check from the Force PRO. So until it gets here then we will know,” Mr. Muhammad said. “He (Mr. Mbu) is still here (as police commissioner).”
The Force PRO, Frank Mba, could not be reached for comments as he did not pick calls to his phone.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, had on at least two occasions redeployed police commissioners without redeploying Mr. Mbu, despite resolutions by the National Assembly and the demand of the state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
Things got worse when the APC asked its lawmakers in the National Assembly to boycott executive bills including the 2014 budget until the presidency resolves the Rivers crisis.
The police commissioner has been accused of meddling in the political affairs of Rivers State, and taking sides with the opponents of Mr. Amaechi in the state.
He has, however, always maintained that he’s acted professionally; and accused Mr. Amaechi of being a dictator.
