Nigerian boy, Donald Nwajiobi, arrested for strangling a 60-years-old Italian woman to death

Police in southern Italy have arrested an 18-year-old Nigerian boy on suspicion of murdering a 60-year-old Catherine Susca outside the coastal city of Bari.

According to Italian media, Bari.repubblica.it Catherine was found semi-naked with a plastic bag over her head and her skull crushed in her apartment in Torre a Mare.

According to investigations, the death of Catherine Susca was caused by the beating she received in the course of the attack, suffocation with a plastic bag dropped on her head and strangulation with a scarf.

The Nigerian boy, Donald Nwajiobi, who lives in Bari but homeless, confessed he killed the woman in self defense after she attacked him with a pair of scissors and he also claimed to have acted alone. However, investigators will verify whether there were accomplices. Donald said he had met the victim at Torre a Mare on the morning of the incident and asked her for food; the lady who was in the car asked him to follow her home with a promise to give him something to eat.

The police think once in the house, Donald tried to steal from the woman and was caught in the act, which would have led the 60 year old woman into trying to chase him out of her house with a pair of scissors, but Donald attacked her and suffocated her with a plastic bag after beating her up.

Some money was stolen from the deceased plus a mobile phone with which he was tracked down by the police.

Donald was remanded in prison after the judge, Sergio Di Paola, ruled that he could be dangerous to free him on bail for he could kill again and probably flee.

Iran nuclear: Geneva talks 'reach deal'

Iran and six world powers meeting in Geneva say they have reached a deal on Tehran's nuclear programme.

Iran is to curb its nuclear activities, initially for six months, in return for limited relief from sanctions.

US President Barack Obama welcomed the deal, saying it included "substantial limitations which will help prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon".

But Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has insisted Iran retains its right to enrich uranium.

Tehran denies repeated claims by Western governments that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons. It insists it must be allowed to enrich uranium for power stations.

'Reciprocal measures'

After four days of negotiations, representatives of the so-called P5+1 group of nations - the US, the UK, Russia, China, France and Germany - reached an agreement with Iran in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A final text of the deal has yet to be released, but EU foreign policy chief Baroness Catherine Ashton said it included "reciprocal measures by both sides".

She said the deal would be co-ordinated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a televised address from Washington, US President Barack Obama said the measures agreed would "help prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon".

Mr Obama outlined what the deal contained, including a commitment by Iran to halt "certain levels of enrichment and neutralising part of its stockpiles" - an apparent reference to uranium enrichment above 5% purity, which is needed to create a nuclear bomb

I escaped being used for money ritual by my husband – Wife

A housewife, Caroline Omoseebi, testified before an Alakuko Customary Court that her husband, Ayemisan, wanted to use her for money ritual. According to her, the husband took her pants to a herbalist in pursuit of the money ritual and also joined a secret cult. Caroline said they got married 44 years ago, and have seven grown up children. She said they lived in harmony until some years ago when their relationship went sour.

“He said he wanted to be rich at all costs. That is the reason he joined a secret cult. He actually took my pants to a herbalist in his attempt to get rich quick”, the petitioner told the court. In his defence, the husband said there was no trouble between him and the wife until she joined a club of bad friends and became uncontrollable. The respondent said he was not ready for divorce and pledged to change his character. The court president, Mr. Godwin Awosola, said the court could not force Ayemisan on the wife and, while adjourning the case, warned the couple to maintain peace.

Ribadu appointed as VC of Jigawa varsity

Gov. Sule Lamido of Jigawa has approved the appointment of Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu as the Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Jigawa State University, Kafin Hausa.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Haruna Wakili, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Dutse, that the appointment took effect immediately.

The new university was established in February 2013.

Wakili told NAN that the vice-chancellor, who hails from Adamawa, was the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola.

He described Ribadu as a “competent, efficient and resourceful researcher with enviable research outputs.”

The commissioner also disclosed that the governor had approved the appointment of Muhammad Nasiru, as the Registrar of the University.

“The state government has also appointed Malam Garba Muhammad and Malam Musa Auyo as Bursar and Librarian of the university respectively.”

Wakili described the appointment of the principal officers of the institution as “a major step in fast-tracking the smooth take off of the institution in the 2013/2014 academic session”. (NAN)

House of Reps Member Slumps and Dies in FCT

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Raphael Nomiye, is dead.

Hon. Nomiye, popularly called Groovy, slumped and died at his residence at Gwarimpa estate, Abuja, in the early hours of November 23, 2013, Saturday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Mrs. Hyelhira Altine Daniel, who confirmed the incidence, said the command is still investigating the cause of his death.

He was an appropriate person to represent the good people of Ilaje Ese-Odo Federal Constituency at the lower House of the National Assembly, for a qualitative representation.

REVEALED: Fake Miracle Scandal Rocks Church, Allegations of Staged-Managed healings

A large scale scandal has broken out in a church known as the City of Truth (a.k.a Holy Ghost Embassy), Uyo, Akwa Ibom State as the founder and general overseer of the church, Bishop Israel Usoro, has been accused by his pastors of engaging in fake instant healing and false prophecies.

But Bishop Usoro has denied the allegation, claiming he never knew whether those who claim to have been instantly healed of their ailments during the church’s tarry nights or similar programmes were real or pretenders.

Sources learnt that Usoro, whose church is situated at No 12, Paul Bassey Street, Uyo, began to experiment the fake instant healing after a Ghanaian pastor, one David Amousou came in as a guest preacher earlier in the year and arranged with some boys to act as sick people to receive instant cure after being prayed for.

A letter of resignation written by one of the elders and former protocol officer of the Church, Mr Idorenyin Aquaisua, to Bishop Usoro and other key officials of the church, a copy of which was made available to Saturday Sun chronicled with dates a series of fake miracles the bishop had performed by paying people, sometimes as little as N2000 to come and pose as if they were mad, blind, infirm or afflicted by evil spirits.

“It bears recall that I have served God in your Church, City of Truth Chapel Int’l, for well over seven (7) years now. Within this period, I stand vindicated before God, my conscience, and man that I have been selfless, diligent, truthful, faithful and committed in my services to God. Since 2006 till date, I have held very many sensitive positions in the church with enduring legacies.

“At a time when the Church was almost grounded by severe moral crisis occasioned by your activities that generated intense feeling of distrust in your wife, I was persuaded, out of trust by you and some faithful members of the church then, to head the Protocol Unit in your office in 2010 so as to encourage and give you the needed support to continue your ministerial duties with minimal distraction,” Aquaisua wrote.

“I came to know you closely as a prophet who professed total dependence on God. Therefore, until certain events unfolded recently, I had no cause to doubt your prophetic grace. When news first came to me early June 2013 that the regular instant healing miracles that were taking place during the Tuesday Power Night programme in the church were stage-managed, I almost beat up the person who brought the news.

“On Tuesday, August 13, 2013, I took an independent step to verify the stories and this step brought me face to face with the truth. That evening during the regular Power Night programme, a clean-shaven young man dressed in torn T-shirt and dragged along by another young man was intercepted as they were about to enter the church and interrogated in the studio room.

“During interrogation, both the young man and his accomplice, who earlier claimed that the young man he was dragging into church was mad, confessed to me (with Elders Idorenyin Mfon, Effiong Usoro and Evangelists Anietie Walter and Harrison Eke as witnesses) that he ‘was NOT MAD and that he was arranged to dress like and to act as a madman in the church for you to ‘deliver’ him so as to boost the faith of members in your anointing and increase the membership of your church’. They said what they were doing was a new method of ‘evangelism’ which you have since embraced”, he further alleged.

But in an interview with Saturday Sun in his church, Bishop Usoro refuted the allegations of fake or false instant miracle claiming that they were peddled by some former officers of the church who are no longer members of the church.

He likened them to Lucifer who was thrown out of heaven. “Since then, he can never say any good thing about heaven.”
Usoro denied ever delivering the supposedly mad man on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, even though he admitted seeing such a person in church that night.

“I saw two young men and one said the other was partially mad. I told them to be coming to church because if I don’t see anything about you, I can’t heal you. It is not the work of the flesh. It is only when you are under the unction of the holy spirit; that you can do all these things. That’s all.”

He showed Saturday Sun two other patients, a lady with goitre and a young man supposed to be mentally deranged whose conditions he said had been improving since they were brought by their relatives to the church.

Usoro admitted being invited by the SSS to answer questions on the fake miracle saga and claimed that he was acquitted after the security operatives heard his own side of the story.
