Photo: Imo State set to unveil the tallest statue of Jesus Christ in Africa

The 28 feet statue, Jesus De Greatest, which will be the fifth tallest statue in Africa, will be unveiled at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in the Abajah local government area of Imo state, on January 1, 2016. The statue was funded and offered to the church by Obinna Onuoha, founder of Premier Petroleum Limited.

According to a statement signed by Onuoha's rep, the statue has a total weight of 40 tons and is made of marble. Onuoha, an indigene of Abajah, and a devout catholic, is a graduate of York St. Johns University in the United Kingdom and the Harvard Business School

Buhari should hand over to Osinbajo if he has no clue to solving Nigeria's problems- Fayose

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has called on President Buhari to handover to Vice President Osinbajo if he does not have any clue to solving Nigeria's problems. He said this while signing the N67.04 billion 2016 appropriation bill of the state into law today December 15th

National Human Rights Commission to investigate the Army/Shiite clash

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC on Tuesday, has set up a Special Investigative Panel to investigate the circumstances that led to the bloody clash between the Nigerian Army and the Shiite Muslim sect in Northern Nigeria.

The clash, which took place during the weekend, took the lives of seven people and injured 10 others.
A statement by the commission, said the panel was set up by the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Prof. Bem Angwe, following a petition lodged against the Muslim sect by the Nigerian Army and some concerned citizens.
The statement signed on behalf of Prof. Angwe  by Mr. Lambert Okpara read:

“In setting the panel, Prof. Angwe stressed the need for all the parties in the dispute to sheath their swords and assured that the commission will get to the root of the matter

“The Executive Secretary noted that the country is operating a democracy which demands that institutions must act within the ambit of the law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

“In a democracy, the rule of law is supreme and it is important that we continue to remind everyone about the need to respect each others’ right.”

Angwe said the commission will thoroughly investigate the incident with a view to find ways to address the current issues and preventing future occurrence.

The panel made up of top management staff in legal, investigations and monitoring departments of the NHRC is headed by Mr Tony Ojukwu, Director, Monitoring Department.

'From Paris with love' is written on missile before it's dropped on ISIS

A missile reading "From Paris, with love" has been sent to wreak havoc on ISIS strongholds. This emotive image was taken of US Military planes which were ready to join strikes on the terrorists who have claimed responsibility for Friday night's assault on the French capital.

The Paris terror attacks were, President Francoise Hollande told his people, "an act of war". And swift retribution came soon afterwards, as the French dropped 20 bombs on an ISIS stronghold in Raqqa, Syria,on Sunday night.

The unverified images of the missile said to be Syria-bound were shared on social media, and said to be a memorial for the 129 killed on Friday.

The Hellfire missiles were written on by persons unknown, but the act is in a tradition held by the US military since World War Two.

The images show messages written in black marker pen and also made out of white tape.
