PhD, MBA holders among 13, 000 applicants that applied for Dangote truck driving jobs

In what may be shocking but true, the Dangote Group has said that PhD and MBA Holders were among the over 13,000 applicants who applied for the recent Graduate Executive Truck Driver vacancy.

The company said it was satisfied with the quality and quantity of applications they have received, stating that its plan was to empower its Graduate Executive Truck Drivers.

Chairman of the company and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote revealed this on Thursday in Abuja at a World Bank Youth Forum.

The forum organized by the Coordinator, Rotimi Olawale and headed by the World Bank Country Director, Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly, was set up to engage the government, business men and women in order to share business ideas and development that can impact positively on Nigeria and Africa.

During a chat with the participants, Aliko Dangote encouraged them to be hardworking, prudent and re-invest in business rather than spend profits.

The GCON holder who shared how he nurtured the Dangote group from a small business in 1978 to one of the largest conglomerates in Africa added that the group’s vision was “to become the largest company in Africa, amongst the top 100 countries in the world and to be worth up to $75 billion by 2017.”

He explained that only 1000 drivers were needed and that the idea behind recruiting graduates was to eventually make them self dependent.

Dangote said the drivers get trip allowances on each trip along with their salaries and that they will own the trucks at no interests or repayments after accomplishing 300, 000 kilometres.

On his philanthropy and farming investment, the magnate said, “It is not always about money but how do I always give back to the community? And agriculture is the best business to help give back”

“Food isn’t cheap, so the earlier we start looking at it as a business, the better”.

The Dangote Group is presently involved in Sugar, Rice and palm oil farming, a venture its Chairman disclosed will create additional 150, 000 jobs within the next 5 years.

Dangote advised the youths and business owners that the key factors to success are focus, determination and integrity.

US Woman Told Her Children To Pray Before Stabbing Them To Death

A Chicago-area woman has been charged with killing her 5-year-old son and a 7-year-old girl as she babysat them, allegedly stabbing each dozens of times in a bedroom this week as they pleaded for their lives, authorities say.

Elzbieta Plackowska, 40, of Naperville, Illinois, allegedly told police she instructed her son Justin Plackowska and the girl, Olivia Dworakowski, to kneel and pray before she fatally stabbed them and two dogs at the girl’s home on Tuesday evening, Naperville police said.

Plackowska — charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree murder — allegedly gave investigators a number of reasons why she killed the children, the most recent of which was that she was upset with her husband and wanted to cause him pain, according to police.
“She began stabbing her son Justin and told him he was going to heaven tonight,” DuPage County prosecutor Bob Berlin told reporters Thursday, citing Plackowska’s alleged statements to police. “He pleaded for his life and told her to stop, but she continued stabbing him until he was dead.”
Plackowska was being held Thursday without opportunity for bail. If convicted, she would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison with no possibility of parole.
CNN’s attempts to reach lawyer Mike Mara, a DuPage County public defender representing Plackowska, weren’t immediately successful.
Police officers found the children’s bodies in Olivia’s home Tuesday night after Elzbieta Plackowska, covered in blood, arrived at a nearby friend’s house and claimed she had been robbed, police said.
The friend called police. Around the same time, Olivia’s mother called police to say she had come home from work and couldn’t enter the house because there was a strange lock on the door, and that she couldn’t find Plackowska or the children, Berlin said.
Officers forced entry into the home and “walked into a scene of unimaginable horror,” finding the bodies on the floor of the master bedroom, Berlin said.
Investigators said Plackowska offered several explanations, including that she believed an intruder killed the children, police said. Later, she told police that the children had evil inside them and she needed to drive the devil out, authorities said.
“She ultimately admitted that she had lied to the police in her earlier statements and stated she was angry with her husband,” Berlin said.
Plackowska told investigators that she told the children to get ready for bed, and the kids entered the master bedroom, Berlin said. Plackowska said she then went to the kitchen, took two knives, entered the bedroom and told the children to kneel on the floor and pray, according to Berlin.
She told police she stabbed Justin repeatedly, and then stabbed Olivia because Olivia saw her attacking Justin, according to Berlin. She said Olivia, like Justin, pleaded for her life, Berlin said.
Police said Justin was stabbed about 100 times, and Olivia about 50 times.
“She did not express any remorse,” Berlin said.
Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall told reporters that the “senseless taking of the lives of these two children defies logic, and our community is grieving.”
In all my years of law enforcement, this is the most gruesome and horrific crime scene that I have seen,” Marshall said at the news conference.
Plackowska told police she was upset with her husband in part because he was gone most days, working as a truck driver, and that she felt he didn’t treat her as she deserved.
Plackowska is awaiting a November 21 arraignment.

FG Ready To Dialogue With Boko Haram Leader As Sect Names Buhari, 5 Others As Mediators

The Federal Government is ready for dialogue with Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, also called Boko Haram, but on the condition its Spiritual and Political Leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, will be at the negotiation table.It was also learnt that the government may come up with an Amnesty Programme for members of the sect after ceasefire and disarmament if they are sincere.

A government source, who spoke in strict confidence, said the conditions set by the group would be resolved during the dialogue.

This is even as the sect has named the former Head of State and presidential candidate of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), among six prominent northerners, to mediate between the group and the Federal Government.

The group has demanded for the immediate arrest and prosecution of former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as one of its preconditions for cease fire.

Meanwhile, in his reaction through an associate, Buba Galadima, the Daura born General said “he wouldn’t want to say anything on this matter that has not yet been authenticated, but he remains prayerful that peace and tranquility will return to this country.”

Man On The Run After He Impregnates His Mother For The Second Time

A man has fled his home in Pote Village, Mashonaland Central Province in Zimbabwe, after allegedly impregnating his mother a second time, according to the British news media. The mother also fled the village
Simon Matsvara and his mother Ethel Vhangare decided to leave the village after church members learned of the alleged pregnancy. Just four years ago, the two were reportedly fined by the village elders when Vhangare suffered a miscarriage after getting pregnant from her son.

The village chief, Chinamhora, said that the community was outraged by the allegations and has organized a team to find Matsvara and Vhangare. “We will hunt the two and we will severely punish them sending a clear message to potential offenders that we will not tolerate these acts,” he told the state-run newspaper.

The couple reportedly began their incestuous relationship back in 2008, when asked by the Matsvara family to care for his ailing father, Agripah, who later died. When the mother became pregnant for the first time, they were fined and told to end their relationship. News of the alleged second pregnancy occurred when the mother began to skip church and members visited their home. It was there that they found the mother was five months pregnant, allegedly by her own son.

The two reportedly left their village shortly after the discovery and are believed to be on the run.

Money Laundering Rumours: PM News Tenders Apology to Florence Ajimobi, Readers

When, some days ago, PM News reported that the wife of the Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, had been arrested by London’s Metropolitan Police for money laundering, the state’s government pushed back immediately and threatened the publication with a law-suit, while denying the story in its entirety. In addition, the first lady, Florence Ajimobi, told journalists that she has “never” had an encouncer with the Met police.

As things would turn out, the report by PM News was apparently, unfounded. This is evident in the fact that PM News has tendered an apology to the Oyo state First Lady and their readers for the misleading information. The contents of the apology partly read:

Tale Of Two Octogenarian Sisters, Abandoned To Their Fate, Left To Die By Children, Relations

For Ibijoke Apena and Janeth Eruwayo, two aged siblings living in a one-room apartment, their old age is anything but comfortable, decent and accepted as they have been abandoned and left to their fate by family and relations.



Even their neighbours at Amusan Street, Rogo, along Iju-Ishaga Road, Lagos State, are no longer at ease with the two sisters as they consider their continued presence, a nuisance. Their living condition is unimaginable – they defecate, urinate and do so many things in the same place they eat and sleep. The stench emanating from their quarters is so appalling that people around throw up!

Originally from Jakpa, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, the sisters have spent more than 60 years of their lives outside Delta.

Even when it was obvious that their children had forsaken them, they cocooned themselves in the world of pretence, saying “our children have not abandoned us. Don’t speak ill of our children.”

But one thing nobody can take away from the octogenarians is their intelligence and impeccable English. Eruwayo attended Queen’s College, Lagos.

The more elderly of the two, Apena, said she had five children and was married to the family of Apena in Ebute Meta, Lagos.

The 87-year-old Apena said, “I was married to the family of Apena in Lagos. I have five children but one is dead. My husband died more than 20 years ago.

“My children do visit any time they wish. I worked as Secretary to Arab Brothers Limited in Ebute Meta.”

Her younger sister, Eruwayo, 82, disclosed that she had four children.

“By the grace of God, I have four children. Some of my children are pastors while others are well-to-do,” Eruwayo said.

Eruwayo’s plight is even more grievous than her elder sister’s – she is blind and suffering from dire infirmities.

A co-tenant, who did not want his name mentioned, said the octogenarians had “great children” but wondered why they had been left alone.

“I still cannot fathom why they abandoned their mothers. Some of the children I had cause to speak with sometime did not want to hear anything about them. One simply told me: ‘If they die, let us know. We will give them decent burial’.”

Another said, “One of the children of Apena in Lagos is a multi-millionaire. He lives in Iju area. Any time you talk about the women, he shuts down.

“He always told us to leave them to their fate. He even told me that he would not visit the place until they die. I find it difficult to figure out what is wrong.

“It was only Eruwayo’s son in Abuja that used to visit them occasionally until he suffered serious financial setback caused by Boko Haram’s bombing of his business interests in the north.”

It was learnt that Apena rented the apartment more than 30 years ago and later Eruwayo joined her.

We gathered that all tenants in the two-storey building where the sisters live have been given till December, to vacate the premises and this we further learnt, is triggered by the state of squalor of the sisters who are now more or less, society’s rejects.
