HUSHPUPPI AND MISERIES OF OTHERS

HUSHPUPPI AND MISERIES OF OTHERS

I spent about 8 years of my roughly 15 years in the banking sector as team lead of e-banking dispute resolution team and deputy head of E-banking Operations. In that role you get to see a lot of things that banking code of ethics won't allow me to divulge even now - the good, the bad and the disheartening. You see how e-fraud traps ensnare both innocent and greedy folks, alike. And it was one of my roles to help the bank's investigation department to unravel them.

But it was only one incidence of e-fraud that made me cry. The victim was an elderly man who just retired from service, after 35 years or so. His total gratuity was some N600,000.00 in 2009 or 2010 monies.

This fresh pensioner, despite repeated education by all financial institutions not to divulge personal account information, clearly compromised his account details and was hit hard, by online fraudsters like HUSHPUPPI. Between 11.55pm and 12.05am, on this sad day, the whole dividend of 35 years was gone!

By the morning, a call from both the branch and the customer service managers of the man's branch was transferred to me. Case was reported, and I requested to speak with the old man...

I asked him many questions, and it was obvious he compromised his details after falling prey to certain schemes. The man didn't cry, but in trembling and stuttering voice he kept asking me just one question: "se gbogbo e ti tan ni yen"? Is everything truly gone? Is it all finished...?

Tears rolled down my cheeks, as I affirmed the sad reality. I transferred the case to the bank's investigation unit which triggered hitech investigation in conjunction with police's FIU...

So, if you are a fan or defender of HUSHPUPPI and his associates, this is just an example of the misery their "profession" wrought on innocent lives.

But then, let us all know that NATURE is a very strict accountant. On a day of reckoning, it balances scores, reconciles accounts and correct misgivings without mercy.

Oshiomhole’s Posters, Pictures Removed From APC National Secretariat

Oshiomhole’s Posters, Pictures Removed From APC National Secretariat

Following the dissolution of the National Working Committee, NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, all posters and pictures of suspended national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, have been removed from the party’s national secretariat.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that this occurred barely 24 hours after the NWC was disbanded. Oshiomole’s pictures have been removed from two giant billboards mounted at the entrance gate and inside the party’s headquarters in Abuja, leaving only President Muhammadu Buhari’s poster.

It was gathered that shortly after the announcement of the NWC’s dissolution, staff at the secretariat jubilated and began to tear down/remove the Edo politician’s portraits from the reception and all the offices.

Oshiomole’s troubles originated from his rift with Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki. Both men have been at loggerheads for a while but the animosity between them heightened after the former influenced the disqualification of the latter from the party guber primaries. This led to Obaseki’s defection to PDP, a development that did not go down well with a large section of the party.

Shortly after, the court of appeal upheld Oshiomhole’s suspension and the party, in an extraordinary National executive committee meeting on Thursday dissolved the Oshiomole-led National Working Committee, NWC.

How Ajimobi Was Defrauded of N50m After Dispatching Private Jet To Fetch Fake Drugs From Bangladesh

How Ajimobi Was Defrauded of N50m After Dispatching Private Jet To Fetch Fake Drugs From Bangladesh

The last days of former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, who died  at First Cardiology Hospital in Lagos following Coronavirus complications, were devoid of peace as he was defrauded of N50m right on his sickbed.

Ajimobi was rushed to the hospital  after his health deteriorated significantly and soon slipped into a deep coma he never recovered from until he passed away.

In the period doctors were battling to save his life at the Lagos hospital, family members desperate to keep him alive reached out to a handful of Nigerians they knew abroad to help get a sizeable quantity of Remivir to be administered on him.

Manufactured in Bangladesh, the antiviral drug was previously tested in humans with Ebola virus disease and has shown promise in treating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) caused by Coronavirus, according to United States National Institutes of Health.

First, the assignment for the search for the drug was given to a Nigerian in Texas, United States, to see if he could help get it.

After days of contacting several trusted persons for the 'project', he gave up the search as the tight monitoring of the drug by the US government made it almost impossible for it to be moved out of hospitals.

The $50,000 paid was returned after another search for the drug in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, did not also materialise.

The hospitals contacted had only limited dose of the drugs, which is closely monitored by the US authorities desperate to stop the rising number of deaths related to Coronavirus.

After failing to get the drug in the US, members of Ajimobi circle turned attention to Bangladesh were it is being produced.

A Nigerian assured them of getting the needed quantity of Remivir to administer on the ex-Oyo governor and help save his life.

Subsequently, a jet and N50m was dispatched to the Asian country for the purchase and delivery but sadly the drugs procured by the Nigerian man was all fake.

He pocketed large chunk of the money and left the former governor to battle for his life at the Lagos hospital where for at least one week he was on a life support machine before he eventually died.

"All our guys here in the United States couldn't risk it because of the war act invoked by President Donald Trump that the drug should not get out of America.

"It is something I was involved in from the beginning. In fact, we gave $50,000 to one of our Nigerian guy who is a doctor in Los Angeles but he returned the money. He said the hospital had only 100 dose and everything was monitored on how it is used.

"But one Nigerian guy defrauded them after claiming he could get it in Bangladesh.

"They sent a flight and paid about N50m but the drug they got from him was fake," one of those privy to the search for the drugs disclosed.

Nigerian man stabs his wife to death and then commits suicide in their home in Lekki

A Nigerian man simply identified as Femi, stabbed his wife to death, and thereafter committed suicide in their home in Victory Park estate in Lagos state on Sunday, June 21.

According to residents of the estate, the couple moved into the estate three weeks ago with their two young children. Not much was known about the couple but just a day before the murder-suicide, they were spotted jogging together on Saturday night June 20.

However, on Sunday, the man who is said to have always questioned the paternity of their second child, stabbed his wife to death, and then took his own life.

A neighbor who spoke on condition of anonymity to LIB, said
On Sunday afternoon, neighbors close to the couple's apartment heard loud music emanating from their home and this lasted for many hours.

The neighbors went to the estate office to complain about the loud music and insisted the estate officials go there and caution the couple.

The estate authorities went to the couple's compound to appeal to them to turn down the volume of the music coming from their apartment.

They however met with the wife's sister who was downstairs with the couple's children. The sister immediately went upstairs so she can inform her sister and the husband about the complaint laid by the estate authorities. She knocked several times but got no response.

After waiting for so long, the sister and the estate officials decided to pull the door down. They were greeted by a horrific sight.

Apparently, the man had killed his wife. It is believed it was pre-meditated because when they got into the room, they saw different kinds of knives there. The woman's legs and hands were bound and her mouth shut with a cellotape. The husband used a clipper to shave her hair, stabbed her head, her eyes, stabbed her multiple times with different knives.

The scene was nothing short of a horror movie.

After stabbing his wife to death, the man committed suicide by drinking sniper''

Spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident to LIB, said

It is true. Homicide detectives have sealed up the place. They have commenced investigation. The corpse of the man and the woman have been moved to the hospital for an autopsy.

Two kitchen knives were found there and two bottles of Sniper. The woman had injuries from stabbing while foams were coming out of the man's mouth who is suspected to have taken those Snipers.

Investigation is ongoing''
